Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As the Transfer Pricing, Asia Pacific, you will be responsible for Statutory Transfer Pricing (STP) policies within the APAC region (Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, China and Malaysia) and is responsible for coordinating and driving the required efforts across these countries. You will conducts analysis of the various business activities within the APAC region and supports the regional and Global STP teams in the implementation of approved STP policies. This involves liaising with entity and business controllers, RBC Taxation and other functional personnel across the APAC region to ensure that appropriate coordination of the implementation process is being undertaken for the confirmed STP policy.

What will you do?

  • Develop key relationships with the Global STP team, business, finance, legal, compliance and RBC Taxation to efficiently support the Associate Director Statutory Transfer Pricing, APAC in identifying and documenting STP issues related to the entities/branches in APAC
  • Support the Associate Director Statutory Transfer Pricing, APAC in reviewing the RBC related party information questionnaires (“RPIQs”) prepared by APAC Finance for the various APAC entities/branches (for taxation reporting purposes)
  • In respect of new business or new transactions, coordinate and drive the gathering of required information for the business and finance groups and conduct analyses and consider comparable company studies in order to propose sound STP policies
  • Assist with preparing relevant STP documentation and Local Files and work with the APAC Finance teams to ensure that the STP policy is implemented
  • Assist the Associate Director Statutory Transfer Pricing, APAC to respond to audit requests as well as support the calculation and review of tax exposure estimates due to adjustments to STP policies
  • Work with RBC Legal and Compliance to review the STP policy aspects of Service Level Agreements (“SLA”) and Information Schedules (“IS”) if required for related party transactions in APAC
  • Provide PM&C review and support on an as-needed basis for APAC regional aspects of Global STP initiatives
  • Provide support to Global STP and STP Implementation teams for non-BAU initiatives e.g., the current Global End to End STP implementation restructure project

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum 2 years of post-qualification work experience and a good understanding of accounting systems and financial statements (and understanding of RBC’s systems is a plus)
  • University degree, accounting designation (CA, CMA, etc.), law degree, MBA or equivalent education
  • Ability to quickly understand the various complex financial reporting systems in order to streamline the information gathering process
  • Strong organizational skills and deadline-oriented
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work well within a team

Nice-to-have

  • A combination of audit and finance experience including exposure to financial services
  • Some exposure to basic transfer pricing principles (although on the job training will be provided in this area as needed)
