Job Description

Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks an Application Subject Matter Expert IV to translate business requirements into technical documents, act as liaison between Business and IT, and provide high level of expertise in the architectural design of business applications in the data space. Specific duties include: analyzing requirements to develop product application design to meet customers’ needs; understanding business requirements and use cases; documenting architecture and design approaches; creating high- and low-level designs; validating suppliers Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM); performing quality review checks on project deliverables; supporting users in building Business Case, including cost and benefit analysis, risk assessment, project scope, and training; performing impact analysis of application changes across various components, holding an end-to-end view of the system; mentoring lower level colleagues; analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems; creating Source to Target Mappings (STTM); obtaining Architecture and Business stakeholder approvals and developing and testing the requirements; reviewing and validating the detailed technical design for business applications provided by the supplier to ensure alignment with business requirements; performing quality review checks on project deliverables; and documenting solution architecture, project plan and estimates, test and deployment plans. Position requires occasional travel within the U.S. Option to work remotely is available.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Application Subject Matter Expert II, Programmer Analyst, Sr. Programmer Analyst, or similar position. Specific experience must include: working in the Property and Casualty insurance; working with Policy and Claims management lifecycles; working with Informatica and other ETL tools; working with SQL; working with analytical reporting requirements and tool such as Power BI, Tableau, and Business Objects; working with Snowflake, Oracle, and DB2; working with relational data bases, data warehouse concepts, star schemas, and architecture best practices; developing architectural roadmap for data reconciliation, automation, and data quality; working with and conducting the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC); optimizing complex ETL code in consideration to Cloud platforms; working with all levels of the IT and business units including business subject matter experts to drive analysis and data provisioning requirements; and facilitating discussions with complex technical content. Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S. Option to work remotely is available.
