Description:

Providence is calling a CAT Scan Technologist (Radiology, Variable, 1.0 FTE) to St Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of computerized tomographic scanner procedures according to department, hospital and national standards. Explain procedures to patient and family, and addresses patient needs/concerns. Assist Radiologist with biopsy, drains, and special procedures. Establish intravenous access by venipuncture. Identify and respond to acute care complications as necessary.
  • Responsible for accurately preparing and completing records, daily quality assurance logs and quality improvement information data, and meeting regulatory standards.
  • Manipulate digital data using work stations. Responsible for calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting radiologic equipment. Optimize equipment and supplies to benefit department operations.
  • Stock work area daily. May be involved in stocking general supplies or ordering as requested
  • Comply with department and hospital radiation and safety standards. Practices Body Substance Isolation. Complete education necessary to maintain licensure or certification required for job.
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses and other members of the team concerning patient status, diagnosis, samples for testing or related information. Operate multiple communication and telecommunication systems. Coordinate scheduling of tests

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Successful completion of an AMA approved training program for Radiologic Technologists or Military equivalent.
  • Must be ARRT registered
  • Must be CT registry eligible. CT registry must be completed within 2 years of employment in the CT position.
  • Must have BLS Certification

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 1 year Work experience in CT.

About St. Elias Specialty Hospital:

St. Elias Specialty Hospital is owned by Providence Health System. The hospital has 59 beds, almost all private rooms. The facility features state of the art equipment to provide extended inpatient acute care for patients.

At St. Elias Specialty Hospital, we provide customized, physician-driven services for patients requiring longer stays in an acute care environment due to multiple or complex medical conditions. We are not a permanent placement for patients; rather we are an answer for many patients who are acutely ill and need to take the first steps towards rehabilitation or home.

Most of our patients are admitted from a traditional acute care hospital, often from the Intensive Care Unit. Families of patients are welcome to contact us to see if we might be an option for their loved one.
