Job Description

This position requires working on testing for heavy metals of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with corporate and global regulatory requirements. Daily analysis will include sample preparation and testing for heavy metals using atomic spectroscopy techniques, such as ICP-MS, to meet required turnaround times of internal stakeholders. Also responsible for entering and revising specifications. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact effectively with chemists, management, and raw material suppliers.

Independence of Action and Accountability: Works independently with minimum supervision to complete evaluation of raw materials and finished products (80%).

Problem Solving: Evaluates materials for appropriate tests and results for acceptability Works with suppliers to discuss and resolve technical issues (20%).

Qualifications

Must have strong technical skills in analytical chemistry and instrumentation, especially in atomic spectroscopy (ICP-MS, ICP-OES). Will be required to manage several critical processes simultaneously, perform sample preparation via microwave digestion, and operate the instrumentations for on-time completion of analysis with high accuracy and precision. Experience in troubleshooting ICP-MS/ICP-OES instrumentations is a plus. Knowledge of USP/NF, FCC, AOCS, and other compendial monographs is required. Knowledge of ASTM, and ISO standards is preferred. Strong knowledge of FDA Regulations, ICH Guidelines and cGMP Procedures is required. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact effectively with chemists and management. Microsoft Office and Access knowledge a plus. Experience working in a regulated environment.
