Job Description

As a key member of the Finance organization, the Gogo Business Aviation Accountant is a high-energy, detail-oriented person with a passion for accounting and numbers. The Accountant performs a variety of accounting activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and reporting requirements. This role will drive an accurate and timely accounting close process by meeting corporate and operational accounting objectives. The ideal candidate has a love for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, the month-end close process and anything accounting related while learning the ins and outs of the business from the bottom up. The Accountant will work on a wide range of accounting projects and ensure that accurate, timely, and transparent accounting and reporting is delivered on a consistent basis. The Accountant will work closely with the Revenue Operations, Accounting and Finance teams to identify and implement opportunities to increase efficiencies through automation and enhanced workflows while ensuring strong internal controls.

COME ON BOARD THE GOGO BUSINESS AVIATION ACCOUNTING TEAM!

  • Record daily cash receipts including lock box payments, ACH/wire, credit card and manual check deposits
  • Post and apply customer payments against invoices in the Accounts Receivable systems
  • Process sales orders, purchase orders and shipping documents to generate equipment invoices
  • Process warranty sales credits and invoices upon repair/exchange
  • Review returned merchandise authorizations (RMAs) to confirm equipment received and post RMA credits
  • Reconcile Accounts Receivable sub-ledgers for both Service and Equipment customers
  • Process customer credit applications
  • Review and approve new customer account setup within the billing system
  • Perform bi-monthly payment reconciliation of billing system and ERP
  • Process credit memos/adjustments when approved in Salesforce and post in billing system and ERP
  • Assist with collections and process placement forms for submission to collections agency
  • Assist with monthly services billing process, by analyzing initial billing variances and researching discrepancies/errors
  • Assist with review of unbilled usage to research missing customer agreements
  • Respond to customer billing inquiries via email and phone
  • Prepare, enter, and maintain support for journal entries
  • Assist with reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for month-end close
  • Assist with Accounts Payable processing, including data entry, expense report processing and filing
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts
  • Assist with annual Financial and SOX audit

Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting (preferred) or Finance
  • 2-6 years of relevant accounting experience

Technical Skills

  • ERP systems experience, Microsoft Navision a plus
  • Public Accounting and SOX experience ideal
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP; experience handling complex accounting matters and demonstrating competency in US GAAP, current accounting regulations and internal controls
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Effective problem solving; methodical, detail-oriented and analytical approach to issue resolution
  • Strong attention to details with analytical, organizational and research abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication and messaging skills
  • Be comfortable using computers and software including, but not limited to, accounting and management information systems, spreadsheets and databases
  • Experience in evaluating and streamlining processes and systems, developing and implementing policies and procedures to achieve operational efficiencies

Compensation: $58,000 - $72,000

Target Annual Incentive: 5% of base compensation
