THE RIVIAN SERVICE ORGANIZATION The Rivian Service Operations Team is a dynamic group that ensures every Rivian driver receives premium service anytime vehicle maintenance or repair needs arise. We provide premium, seamless, and convenient solutions via our network of Rivian owned service centers, mobile service vehicles, and network of service parts. The Service Operations Team at Rivian encompasses critical components of vehicle service such as service engineering, collision repair, service parts, programs & operations, technical support, field teams, and remanufacturing. THE POSITION: As a Service Supply Chain Design Data Scientist, you will use your analytical, statistical and programming skills to analyze and interpret large data sets for the Global Service Distribution Strategy and Execution organization to support fact-based decisions. Your role will be to develop models using disparate data sets to make recommendations that support optimization between service levels and total supply chain cost. You will support cross functional teams with insights that will support data and process optimization in order to test different courses of action (what-if scenario planning). You must have strong experience using a variety of data mining and data analysis methods and tools. You must also have experience building and implementing models through the creation of algorithms and running simulations to support current and future business needs. Must be comfortable working and collaborating with stakeholders.

What You Will Do

    • Identify data sources required for service parts distribution total cost and capacity models and automate collection processes
    • Support preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
    • Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns.
    • Build models and machine-learning algorithms to support proactive capacity planning and total cost optimization
    • Present information using data visualization techniques; make recommendations on path forward
    • Assess effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
    • Develop testing framework and model quality
    • Own solutions developed and manage backlog of requested improvements from stakeholders
    • Develop tools and processes to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
    • Explores new technologies for optimization and macro benchmarking including explorative studies

This is What You Will Need

    • 5+ years of experience in statistical modeling, programming, and manipulating large data sets
    • Masters in Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science – PHD a plus
    • Experience working with and creating data architectures
    • Knowledge of machine learning techniques (regression, simulation, scenario analysis, neural networks, decision tree learning, etc..) and pro/cons on each application and approach
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with emphasis on new part launch
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
    • Strong collaborator, with willingness to drive change
    • Coding knowledge and experience with several languages: C, C++, Java
    • An ability to tell a story using data including visualization experience (Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI)
    • Experience using statistical computer languages and orchestration tools (R, Python, SQL, Alteryx, Apache Spark, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.) to manipulate data and support trend analysis from large data sets.
    • Experience using agile methodologies - JIRA or Confluence experience a plus
    • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities with a focus on root cause investigations
    • Preferred expertise in spare parts supply chain/logistics theory, distribution models, and target service levels
    • Knowledge of total cost and capacity modeling within a fulfillment network – Service a plus
    • Understanding and experience in implementing lean project initiatives
