Senior Credit Specialist

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As the Senior Credit Specialist, you will be responsible for the growth and development of the credit book in conjunction with relationship managers. You will manage the risk and reward, pricing of transactions, ROE and profitability of credit book within Wealth Management.

What will you do?

• Ensure continued alignment of the credit portfolio with wealth management business and risk strategies and RBC policies and procedures
• Work with clients and Private Bankers to structure optimum credit-based solutions within RBC risk appetite and lending parameters and to assess exception lending values request and policy exceptions
• Conduct analysis on transaction request and risk of borrower and transaction and perform BRR assessment and recommendations
• Ensure appropriate documenting of all credit risks per guidelines and approvals
• Ensure transaction remains within approval guidelines; covenant and financial compliance of the transaction/borrower to maintain credit quality
• Responsible for the maintenance, review and reporting of high quality risk profile of the portfolio
• Follow up on margin shortfall and develop action plans initiated by Group Risk Management to monitor the transactional risk
• Assist with enhancement of policy and credit products to meet the needs of clients and the business
• Proactively monitor the regulatory updates and changes that affect credit, particularly on mortgage lending
• Assist with the development of credit training

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in credit structuring, credit product development, credit portfolio management and credit sales
• Good product knowledge in particularly in mortgages and solid understanding of regulatory requirements
• Sound understanding of wealth management business
• Strong risk assessment and credit skills
• Good command of written and spoken English, Putonghua or Cantonese
• A good team player with strong interpersonal and presentation skills

Nice-to-have

• Degree in Banking and Finance, Business and Accounting or related discipline
• Property financing knowledge in particular in Singapore and Hong Kong
