Project Manager – Global External Sourcing

12 month Fixed Term Contract

Global External Sourcing (GES) owns the sourcing, planning and supply of all our externally manufactured products into the AstraZeneca network. We currently work with c250 suppliers across a number of countries handling c2000 Product SKU’s with a value of over $1 billion.

We have a key role to play in delivering our Operations’ strategy by optimising our already established supply to customer, delivering flawless new product introductions and driving simplification in our supply chains. We also support the acquisition of new businesses and divestment of brands to support the Operations strategy.

As a Project Manager you will lead projects through from initiation to completion within agreed constraints of time, budget and quality. You will craft solutions and ensure that requirements are effectively gathered and have a good knowledge of different supplier solutions that could support your project,

You will have responsibility for both people and budget and be responsible for risk management, benefits & value management

Key accountabilities:

In this role you will be:

  • Accountable for the delivery of projects/programmes on time and on budget
  • Agree project plans including activities, resources, costs, roles, responsibilities and quality assurance.
  • Follow project plans and recommends revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Lead day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope to ensure timely completion of project
  • Maintain relationships with key business partners to ensure requirements are effectively collected, and that they are committed to project objectives
  • Ensure that impact and changes resulting from projects/programmes are effectively communicated to the business
  • Build and lead project teams, communicating roles and responsibilities whilst encouraging teamwork and collaboration amongst the team and business partners
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Build project/programme improvement plans ensuring that project teams provide input
  • Resolve quality and compliance risks and issues, and where appropriate raise to Lead Project Manager
  • Handle Steering Group expectations

Essential requirements:

  • Significant experience in and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry including experience in at least two of the following areas: manufacturing management, supply chain management, product development, quality assurance, engineering, purchasing, finance or commercial.
  • Experience of managing projects/programmes in a similar role
  • Well developed organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working with third party suppliers
  • Experience of working application of policies, procedures and guidelines

Desirable Requirements

  • Professional qualifications in project management
  • Worked in a global organisation with complex/geographical context
  • Experience of handling ambiguity whilst navigating through it successfully
