Position Overview:

The Abbott Informatics Software Engineer we seek will be a Full-Stack Software Engineer who will be involved in the Design, Development, Maintenance and Support of STARLIMS software components including developing user interfaces, server-side logic and business rules.

Position Location:

  • This position is located in Hollywood, Florida

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Primary function is to support STARLIMS software development and to participate in a team-oriented environment to develop user interface and data management applications.
  • Provide technical capabilities for planning and implementing system installation upgrade configuration and related change control and verification activities for STARLIMS software and oversee execution within the area of responsibility.
  • Provide day-to-day support including problem resolution and coordination of operational activities.
  • Research & evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations for improved system operations.
  • Develop processes that lead to shortened cycle time makes major impact decisions.
  • Devises new approaches to problems which vary from standard techniques and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the technical manager to engineer customer driven solutions and to meet the market requirements.
  • Execute software development life cycle activities from software requirements design and implementation through testing and documentation while maintaining compliance to the development plans and practices.
  • Uphold coding and documentation standards for project and/or product and manage deliverables for area of responsibility.
  • Define installation upgrade configuration and operating procedures for complex and multiple systems and support training and coaching of personnel on these practices.
  • Understand business impact of supported systems establish and maintain technical support service levels and ensure that they are being met on a regular basis.
  • Build and present reports and presentations to in and cross vertical developers.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Computer Science or similar engineering discipline including Software Engineering Electrical

Engineering or Biomedical Engineering

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • 4 years minimum working experience with the following languages and technologies:
    • JavaScript / HTML5
    • .NET / C# (or alternative backend technology)
    • SQL
  • Good knowledge of OOP, basic algorithms and data structures as well as experience working under a modern agile based SDLC

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Experience developing functional REACT applications is a plus
  • Front-end development experience is preferred
