Position Purpose:

The Store Design Special Project Manager will work with increasing the profitability of Petco’s physical in-store experience by managing the development, and supporting the execution of; new fixtures, shippers, shop-in-shops, international projects, and prototype “special design projects” to ensure they are brand right, consumer relevant, and cost effective.

Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Interact professionally and effectively utilizing verbal, visual, and written communication to Sr. Executive through Staff level partners, and outside professional contacts with emphasis on company interests
  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes and effectively accomplish assigned duties/tasks through the work of subordinates
  • Create and manage budget for all special projects when assigned as lead
  • Analyze data to determine appropriate course of action
  • Acts as the Business Leader and Creative Catalyst who will lead the development and execution of assigned “in-store fixture and design projects”.
  • Champions brand positioning at each point of integrated communications contact, upholding standards of creative integrity and maintaining a consistent brand voice in all business channels.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Provide leadership and guidance to assigned project teams to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget guidelines. No direct supervisory responsibilities at this time.

Work Environment:

Most job duties are performed while seated indoors at a desk operating a computer, attending meetings, at POG studio or store visits, and interfacing with a variety of individuals. Approximately 20% of tasks involve travel to the field to review conceptual mock-ups or to review new programs.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Marketing, Business, Architecture, Merchandising or related discipline, plus 6 or more years of experience in Design or related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s Degree.

  • A minimum of 6 years combined experience in Merchandising, Field Operations, Visual Merchandising, Store Planning or Space Management experience is required.
  • Advanced skill using AutoCAD or other drafting software, as well as experience with Microsoft Office software programs is required.
  • 3 years management experience in a corporate Store Design or Store Planning department are necessary and 3–6 years of retail management or retail operations experience are preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects; analytical, creative merchandising and trouble-shooting skills; and strong interpersonal communication and computer skills are a necessity.
