Our location in Abbott Park (Lake Bluff), IL, currently has an opportunity for an Associate R&D Scientist. This position will conduct research for our Diagnostics division.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Experimental procedures: Conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data.
  • Recommends options for other experiments.
  • Presents data within team.
  • Expertise and Problem Solving: Troubleshoots instrumentation or experiments; recognizes and assists with technical problems.
  • Project Planning: Participates in planning project tasks; providing input to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Lab Safety: Participates in routine maintenance and lab safety.
  • Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.
  • Quality: Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
  • Work Hours - Will work any one of the shifts below as determined by Hiring Management and business needs; Flexibility/Willingness to work any one of the following shifts is required:

7:00 am – 3:30 pm

10:00 am – 6:30 pm

2:00 pm – 10:30 pm

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • B.S./M.S. in life of physical science
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Knowledge of analytical instruments assigned by supervisor

Preferred

The following are ideal/optional:

  • BS Chemistry or Biology
  • 1 year of experience with either of these Abbott products: Alinity or Architect
  • PEAR, EDMS or experience with similar Data Management Systems
