Job Description

Job Description The VP of Application Solutions will lead and develop all of the employees who support the full lifecycle on all business applications across BAE Systems Inc including multiple ERP systems, enterprise level HR/Financial Services applications, financial modeling and forecasting, SharePoint collaboration environments, intranet websites, supply chain management, and manufacturing productions and inventory controls. The VP will oversee the IT product line structures that has womb to tomb responsibility for key applications with emphasis on the design, develop, test, deploy, and operate phases of the solution development lifecycle including each portfolio. Product Sector Solutions focuses on Oracle and other associated business solutions that are used by the Product Sectors. Service Sector Solutions is responsible for Deltek and other business solutions used by the Service Sectors. Enterprise Solutions focuses on business solutions used across the enterprise like Oracle HCM, Ariba, and LMS. Common Solutions will provide solutions that are used across the other Application Solutions areas and the enterprises such as SharePoint. Engineering Portfolio focuses on the engineering tools used in the product sectors. Extensive experience in compliance, audit and remediation, security and automation a must.
Location listed as Charlotte, but will consider major BAE Systems Inc sites.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with IT leaders and Business Technology Officers to align the forward looking application strategies (operational, portfolio, rationalization and investment) with business goals and objectives
• Works with IT Transformation and Architecture in exploiting emerging technologies while leveraging customer investments in legacy systems to design cost competitive technical solutions consistent with cost-effective service delivery models
• Maintains and rationalizes the application portfolios including applications, resources and skills to ensure appropriate staffing levels, budgets, competencies and capabilities. Provide oversight of delivery of applications development and modification projects using project management process including lifecycle management to ensure performance to budget, schedule and technical requirements. Delivers a tuned, efficient portfolio through programs like application rationalization, automation, monitoring and event response, and effective workflow optimization.
  
• Drives the technical direction for IT's integrated tools suite for applications development and testing including security, compliance, and continuous improvement. Establishes and maintains efficient and compliant processes, rapidly closing any identified gaps in security posture or regularly, process or policy compliance.
• Communicates Application Solutions strategic and tactical directions, activity status, service offerings and processes. Translates customer's functional requirements and specifications into technical solutions bringing competitive advantage to major business initiatives
  
• Grounded in technical expertise within application portfolios, will advise and coach subordinates to resolve technical and operational problems, will maintain the skill level of subordinates and will engage in collaborative career development with subordinates, will ensure effective utilization of staff, and will ensure subordinates adhere to applicable policies, practices, procedures, methods, standards, and guidelines, and will be responsible for the administration of performance reviews for the assigned staff, inclusive of soliciting inputs from stakeholders.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Mastery of the functional domain of Applications, inclusive of theory, contemporary state of the practice, processes, and tools
• Proven project/program management skills
• 5 or more years of relevant, hands-on experience with IT systems design/development, Engineering, and/or IT Operations
• 5 or more years of IT/engineering supervisory experience
• Practical knowledge and experience with applicable applications and life cycle management processes
• BS in IT/Engineering or related fields​​​
• Extensive experience working in SOX or equivalent government compliant organizations in regards to IT; experience working with audit responding to and remediating findings.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Experience across various application disciplines, including ERP systems, collaborative tools.
• Significant IT budgeting and costing experience
• Contemporary design/development program experience
• Contemporary stage gate and design review experience
• MS in Engineering plus 15 or more years of related IT, Engineering, and/or Operations experience
