Production Application Support Specialist

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

To provide Front-End Online Application production support for the Toronto / Luxembourg provided services and business lines across all relevant regions. Ensure production environment availability to meet SLAs, solve incidents, and carry out system maintenance activities.

What will you do?

• Provide direct 2nd level support and on call support on a 24x7 basis and react on production event alerts and engage the incident management process
• Resolve incidents in Production environments in collaboration with service providers and vendors
• Liaise with Incident Manager and Senior Leaders to communicate accurate status on incident resolutions
• Oversee the activities of the 1st Line Systems Operations team and provide Operator Instruction and Support Procedure documentation
• Take ownership and responsibility for solving complex issues at 2nd Line, escalating to 3rd line where appropriate and work with Problem Management on trends and corrective actions
• Provide timely and accurate error resolution as per the agreed turnaround times outlined in SLAs and analyze impacts of and co-ordinate maintenance activities, patching and technical version upgrades
• Deploy application changes in Production (for Normal, Standard, Urgent and Emergency Changes), perform release verification and collect input for PIR meetings and provide input to Change Managers
• Maintain technical scripts for file transfers, event alerts and data exports and configure or adapt tools used for improvement of production support

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have:

• Proven problem solving and analytical skills specifically for Front-End Online Applications for transaction entry / reporting functionality
• Proven knowledge of AIX, Linux, UNIX scripting (ksh, bash), IBM MQ, IBM WebSphere Application Server, and UNIX security protocols including SSH, SFTP, FTPS, PKI and PGP
• Proven knowledge of Oracle SQL, PL / SQL and MS SQL scripting
• Good Knowledge of IT Processes and Standards : Development Life Cycle, ITIL, COBIT, ORM, Audit

Nice-to-have:

• Knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Citrix / Xenapp 4.5/6.5, Powershell scripting
• Understanding of Cloud Foundry, Docker, UbanCode Deployment, Nexus, Artifactory
• Knowledge of Oracle 11g/12c database or MS SQL Server and Management Studio
• Good IT background and knowledge of main technologies used at RBC I&TS and knowledge of the I&TS Custody business
