Job Description

The following role is within Verisk 3E’s Base Component Library team, working in a global team on substance classification based on a scientifically sound approach. The role offers an opportunity to engage and further grow expertise in an open and quality driven environment, and build a strong core for a ruleset based SDS authoring process.Ma

Main responsibilities include;

• Assessment of toxicological and ecotoxicological studies for hazard evaluation of substances:

o Summarizing study data

o Drawing scientifically sound conclusions based on regulation

o Data gap filling by using read across approach

• Determine GHS hazard classifications for chemical substances according to national and international standards.
  • Identify and evaluate the validity of data used for classification and toxicity assessments.
  • Generate toxicity data if not data is available and relevant conditions apply (Use of various techniques such as computer modeling software, QSAR, read-across, etc.;
• Maintenance of chemical component data for SAP EH&S and/or 3E Generate.
• Maintaining a strong understanding of global hazard communication regulatory requirements.
• Ensures that all new and existing substances are managed up to most recent regulation, to assure compliance with global, federal and state laws.
• Support the internal component management guidance team with evaluating upcoming changes in international law and assessing the impact of such changes for the substance database.
• Support the training of team members.
• Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.
• Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• M.Sc/Ph.D. in relevant or equivalent discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology, Environmental science).
• At least 4 years of experience as a Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs Expert.
• Knowledge of Chemical Regulations like GHS, REACH, Safety Data Sheet requirements, TCSA etc. as well as experience with product formulation compliance and assessment required (minimum 3 years of documented experience).
• Knowledge of chemical compounds, families, or chemicals products (incl, household consumer products, personal care, food contact, and food).
• Knowledge of active versus inactive ingredients in respect to physical form, volume, and hazards.
• SAP EH&S experience is an advantage.
• Ability to explain complex regulatory issues to a mixed audience.
• Strong decision-making and execution skills.
• Strong teamwork and customer relationship skills. Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Passionate about his/her work, self- motivated and driven, thorough and focused, action-and-results oriented.
• Very good skills in English both written and spoken.
