Introduction/Job Purpose

Currently, due to the development, Mars is looking for Senior Product, Process and Packaging Technologist who will be lead the delivery of a portfolio of product, process and/or packaging development & implementation projects in line with business growth and cost optimization strategies, and Quality & Food Safety standards.

What are we looking for?

• Degree level qualification in a relevant technical or scientific discipline (Food Science/Technology, Biological, Chemical, Engineering sciences)
• A higher level qualification in a relevant technical or scientific discipline
• Experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment (minimum 2 years)
• Good command of the English language
• Experience in leading and managing projects in an FMCG environment
• Experience in experimental design and execution
• Direct experience of food product/packaging design and food manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of food raw material/packaging substrate functionality
• Readiness to undergo on-the-job training at the Sochaczew Factory

What would be your key responsibilities?

• Initiate and lead the delivery of a portfolio of product/process/packaging development & implementation projects that will lead to continuous improvement in product design and performance
• Initiate and lead projects designed to optimize business costs, while adhering to agreed standards of Quality and Food safety
• Own and manage site product, process and/or packaging recipes/specifications in line with design principles and standards
• Perform technical risk assessments on changes to raw materials, recipes, products, processes and packaging, and ensure that all risks are effectively managed
• Manage the implementation of new raw materials on site according to the Mars Material Quality Management standard using relevant system tools (RADAR, Atlas, Veritas, MRA Database)
• Defining minimum standards and critical success factors as part of the processes for all product/process implementation projects in collaboration with Hub R&D and local cross-functional teams
• Own product/process/packaging data collection and management, including Analytical Testing Programme data, ensuring that that our products conform to standards, and that exceptions are effectively escalated and managed
• Lead trouble-shooting activities in partnership with other functions to ensure the successful resolution of product/process issues
• Act as a member of Product Related Incident Management Process teams as required
• Represent R&D in European and local Activity Task Groups, providing risk assessment and technical inputs as required
• Lead and provide technical support for product/process/packaging implementation and cost optimization activities, as determined by the Quality Management Team network resource allocation process
• Actively participate in regional product/process/packaging communities to promote the effective sharing of knowledge and experience
