What You’ll Do

The 5G Mobile Core Product Line Manager is responsible for managing the product life cycle of the assigned portfolio from inception through end of life. The PLM champions product success and customer satisfaction while ensuring profitability of the business. The PLM balances customer and market needs with business priorities and Engineering capacity.

Based on an intimate understanding of the market, relevant 3GPP 5G core standards, and competitive forces, the PLM makes tactical and strategic decisions about the 5G Mobile core product portfolio. The PLM works closely with customers and cross-functional teams from Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Finance, Product Marketing, Business Development and Sales Organization to drive a successful product strategy that meets defined objectives.

Who You are

The 5G Mobile Core Product Line Manager is responsible for clearly communicating to Marketing, Sales and customers the market offering, roadmap, value proposition and competitive differentiation. The Product Line Manager reviews deal pricing requests and advises based on profitability analysis as well as portfolio and target market alignment.

The Product Line Manager represents the voice of the customer towards Engineering and is responsible for translating customer business needs into product technical requirements and use cases. Working within the agile development methodology, the 5G Mobile Core PLM defines quality features and user stories, manages the backlog and contributes to Engineering discussions and activities.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Analyze and clearly understand 5G Mobile Core market requirements for the assigned products and/or solutions
  • Clearly define a winning product strategy and business case and provide timely communication of issues or events that materially impact that strategy
  • alignment with the Policy BU strategy, priorities and release schedule to develop a differentiated product and/or solution
  • Forecast and help drive opportunities for product lines. Identify areas for growth and create strategic product line roadmaps to help drive adoption of the product and differentiating features
  • Pricing (competitive pricing and Cisco’s pricing). Deal pricing incl. margin analysis and product recommendations
  • Provide customer use-case examples to engineering and act as the primary bridge between customer feedback and requirements and R&D
  • Create written product specifications and requirements with feedback from Sales, Marketing and Customers.
  • and ultimately to ensure efficient delivery of product features
  • Work closely with Sales Operations and Customers resolve issues and problems that affect product success
  • Drive resolution of customer satisfaction issues. Manage issues associated with ordering of product, systems and tools, and manufacturing supply
  • Communicate feature/benefits and competitive differentiation of your product(s) or solution(s) in written and presentation form to Sales, Marketing and Customers
  • Support sales organization in pre-sales activities such as RFI/RFP responses and customer presentations, and post-sales activities such as roadmap planning, issue resolution and new product exploration
  • Support product marketing and marketing communications in developing product collateral, supporting industry trade shows and forums
  • Development of marketing and sales collateral
  • Develop and drive competitive marketing campaigns to ensure Cisco's market share and profitability including press releases, launch materials, customer presentations, videos, and sales training materials

Skills and experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Deep understanding of the EPC and 5G Mobile Core telecom market, including challenges faced by mobile and wireline service providers, competitors, standards bodies, other key players in the industry
  • Demonstrated understanding of software development process
  • Possess a Tier-1 telecom mindset understanding of telecom product quality, carrier-grade reliability, etc. requirements and expectations.
  • Knowledge of the standards such as 3GPP, IETF and GSMA an advantage
  • Aptitude for understanding complex standards, translating them to product requirements and identifying value-add features to differentiate the product.
  • Sound business acumen to develop both internal business case and end consumer business case for your product(s) or solution(s)
  • Ability to manage diverse business goals, collaborate with partners outside the core business, and lead teams across decentralized organizations
  • Agility in handling a fast paced industry with a can do attitude to problem solving
  • Experience working with external/internal customers (gathering requirements, proposing solutions, deal with escalations)
  • Demonstrated clear leadership skills and experience working with large and multi-cultural project teams to set product direction & strategy
  • Has strong communication, presentation & influencing skills
  • Has a good knowledge of the sales process including forecasting & ROI analysis
  • Can flexibly work with geographically dispersed teams (worldwide)

Educational background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science or related field, Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree a plus
  • 5-10+ years (depending on grade level) overall experience in fields such as technical or product marketing, sales, or engineering

Travel

· Willing to travel both domestically and internationally to customer, partner, internal Cisco sites and industry events to work closely with customers, sales teams, engineering in support of both new and existing opportunities and product development efforts
