Autotask PSA is a real time mission critical cloud based business automation application, complete with resource management, CRM, ticketing, project management, billing and many other functions. Nearly 8,000 IT Service providers around the world rely on Autotask to run their business.

Datto is seeking an experienced manager for one of our Autotask PSA software engineering teams. This position requires someone with thorough knowledge of what it takes to build and maintain a highly productive and collaborative team. The perfect candidate has a passion for developing people professionally, as well as the technical chops to aid in the design and development of exceptional software solutions.

You will report to the Senior Vice President of Engineering.

A Look Inside the Job:

• Mentor, motivate, and manage a highly aligned development team (hiring, personnel management, performance reviews, compensation, discipline).
• Develop new product features according to schedule with high quality.
• Create accurate project estimates and plans; manage the projects to completion.
• Create technical designs and unit test plans.
• Ensure sound software operational practices (configuration management, code reviews, unit testing, architectural review, root-cause analysis/correction).
• Address tickets specific to newly released functionality.
• Coordinate activities with Design and QA to ensure smooth hand-offs.
• Evolve development and release management processes in concert with other development and architecture managers to improve quality, predictability, and efficiency.

About You:

• 5 to 10 years of technical experience developing commercial software applications.
• 3+ years management experience with the ability and desire to work hands on with the team.
• BS in a technical field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, EE, or Mathematics or equivalent experience.
• Experience as a software engineer with object oriented design, development frameworks, and/or web services.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities.
• Strong project management and estimation skills – ability to create and track to a project plan.
• Proficient at creating technical designs.
• Experience with formal quality assurance processes.

Preferred:

• Experience with Microsoft based applications strongly preferred, especially .Net
• Experience with software as a service based on a web application
• Experience with database centric business applications
