The Role

IDEO U is in search of a Digital Marketing Analyst who will help the organization grow through better use of data, and streamlining day-to-day operations. You’ll help enable IDEO U’s success by ensuring that all the marketing tools used by the team are working in harmony, reporting correctly, and convey accurate data to enable smart decision-making. You’ll also own the deployment of email lifecycle marketing and marketing automation campaigns, collaborating with IDEO U’s Lifecycle Marketing Specialist.

In the role, you’ll move between ad hoc reporting, providing key business analysis and insights, and developing strategic recommendations for the team. This could mean using data to help the team better understand and meet the needs of customers, shaping recommendations that might reduce acquisition costs, or increasing customer lifetime value. You’ll work alongside a Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst, who will help you navigate the data systems in place.

The role will have an initial focus on improving lifecycle marketing efforts. As you build fluency in helping the lifecycle marketing efforts reach their objectives, you will gradually expand to being a resource for several other digital marketing channels.

Note: This role will begin remotely through at least July 2021. The long term plan, however, is we seek to bring on an individual who will be present, on-site in San Francisco.

What it Takes

As someone with a keen interest in systems and process, you are excited to get scrappy and build systems. You have a gritty willingness to search for insights buried among ambiguity. And while you bring a passion for, and focus on data, you also remain open to collaboration with individuals offering other perspectives. You get excited working with a team towards a shared goal, and enjoy learning and incorporating new skills.

Requirements to apply:

  • At least one year of experience using SQL to query across multiple data tables
  • At least one year of experience with Hubspot or similar marketing automation platform
  • Excel/Google Sheets proficiency

Not required, but nice to have:

  • Experience using Tableau or other data visualization tool
  • 1+ year of experience with some form of marketing analytics (e.g. Google Analytics)
  • Prior work building and optimizing SQL queries and recurring processes (e.g. views, indexes, stored procedures)
  • Project Management experience

In This Role, You Will

You’ll use your 2+ years work experience in marketing, business operations, analytics, or an adjacent function to:

Reporting and Analytics

  • Provide ad hoc and ongoing analysis by retrieving data from relational databases in combination with other data/marketing platforms by using SQL and Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new data dimensions to support lifecycle and other digital marketing initiatives (e.g. automation, personalization, segment & targeting strategies).
  • Design reports and dashboards that will enable actionable insights into the growth & performance of our email and/or digital marketing ecosystem.
  • Become the internal subject matter expert for the reporting and customer acquisition attribution efforts on the organization’s marketing automation platform, Hubspot.
  • Assist and be a point of contact for GDPR and CCPA requests, and compliance with data retention policy.
  • Create reports and dashboards (e.g. Google Sheets, Excel, Hubspot, Tableau) to track campaigns, pipelines, and user activity.
  • Integrate Hubspot and other 3rd party data sources and applications with Tableau.

Email Operations

  • Collaborate internally to ensure successful execution of lead nurture and retention programs.
  • Assist in managing email campaign operations, and evolve processes to support increased scale, efficiency, and complexity.
  • Help solve for data gaps and design new data dimensions to support lifecycle and other digital marketing initiatives (e.g. automation, personalization, segment & targeting strategies).
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance validation rules, triggers, segments and workflows to automate data management and business processes.
