Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As the Head of Finance, Tokyo, you will partner with Japan business leaders and senior management to enable delivery of Japan and APAC strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring adequate financial control and reliable financial reporting for the business operating in Japan and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations for regulatory reporting and tax filings.

What will you do?

  • To partner with and support the Japan business leaders to attain their financial and strategic objectives by supplying accurate and timely financial and management information including business plans and forecasts
  • Financial Control:
    • IFRS and Japanese GAAP
    • Statutory reporting to Head Office
  • Regulatory Reporting:
    • Timely and accurate review of Bank Branch and Securities regulatory reports
    • Liaison with Japanese regulators when required
  • Financial and Management Reporting:
    • Legal entity/ statutory reporting
    • Management reporting and performance analysis
  • Tax Compliance:
    • Review of tax working papers in support of the annual tax return
    • Liaison with tax authorities when required
  • To assist with the establishment and implementation and monitoring of appropriate policies for Tokyo Finance
  • To develop/update procedure manuals for key processes and operations, reviewed and updated at least annually
  • SME to local and Head Office projects as required

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • CA or CPA accounting qualification
  • Minimum 10 years Banking or Financial Institution and management experiences
  • Detailed working knowledge of IFRS and Japanese GAAP
  • Regulatory experience with both Bank and Securities firm reporting
  • Management experience for a small team
  • Fluent English and Japanese language skills

Nice-to-have

  • Highly developed PC skills – Microsoft programs
  • Audit background or experience
