About the job

We are looking for a Legal and Compliance Executive to assist the UK Legal Counsel and Data Protection Officer supporting the legal needs of HelloFresh UK, along with close collaboration with Group Legal in Germany and global subsidiaries.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to and support all key business areas at the world’s leading online meal kit business working closely with: marketing, brand, product, logistics, customer care, technology, HR and finance on a wide range of commercial legal matters.

What you will be doing:

  • Commercial drafting / advice: under the supervision of UK Legal Counsel. Assisting with the drafting and/or revision of supplier agreements, marketing agreements, SaaS agreements, data protection agreements, confidentiality agreements, hire purchase agreement, along with much more.
  • Contract Management: assist with the implementation of a new contract management and reporting system to be rolled out across the Group.
  • Corporate / Company secretarial : provide company secretarial support, such as drafting Board minutes and Powers of Attorney; along with Group compliance documents and company accounts.
  • Corporate Governance / Risk: assist with a comprehensive bi-yearly risk assessments of all material business risks in line with Group reporting, as well as more regular data protection and compliance audits and monitoring progress in these areas.
  • Internal policies and guidance : support with the review of existing policies and guidance documents and the creation of new documents, where required.
  • Data Protection : assist the Customer Care team with responding to subject access requests (and other requests under GDPR) received from customers, in accordance with data protection laws. The successful candidate will also assist the DPO with their compliance and reporting duties and work closely with the marketing team on data protection issues.
  • Knowledge management : monitor legal developments across relevant areas of law, disseminating the information to peers and the business accordingly.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to assist with a wide range of legal matters including employment, HR, litigation, food safety, H&S, IP and brand protection matters.

Who you are:

  • You are an experienced Paralegal or a law graduate (or someone with equivalent experience), having completed your LPC and/or GDL
  • Understanding commercial and data protection law and have good drafting experience
  • Keen and comfortable working under pressure
  • Able to manage deadlines and a complex and diverse workload
  • A great communicator. With sound interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication, you are able to influence business stakeholders
  • You are organised and able to work autonomously where necessary
  • You have a can-do attitude and passion for our business and our ethos
  • Able to produce user-friendly advice or documents, be a good listener, be a collaborative team member
  • Understanding of excellent customer service from the customer and service provider’s perspective
  • Evidence of being a self-starter who is good at identifying problems and proactively remedying them
  • Ideally, you have knowledge of data protection

Level and progression: An Executive works at a junior / mid-level, running operational tasks autonomously and leading initiatives, with moderate support from manager. From there, you can progress to a Lead level withing the same function, or progress sideways to a role in another team at HelloFresh for which you have transferable skills.

Recruitment process: First, you will have a phone interview with a member of our Talent Acquisition team. If successful, you will be invited to a video competency interview for which you will need to work on a case study.
