Hours: Full Time; Monday - Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm
Location: The Polyclinic Northgate Plaza
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Incumbent will provide support to all employees and providers specifically focused on Employee Health and ensure staff compliance with OSHA and other governmental agency regulations. Incumbent will provide staff education, develop policies and procedures as needed. Incumbent works with Practice Management teams to ensure patient safety is maintained. This position coordinates with other departments and outside vendors to ensure effective overall clinic operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Health
- Respond to on the job injuries. Ensure processes are completed appropriately including completion of incident/exposure forms and tracking. Conduct follow-up. Maintaining and updating SDS and assist in management of exposure sources.
- Facilitate and ensure occupational exposures are dealt with appropriately and within compliance of WISHA regulations, collaborating with the Infection Control Specialist to reduce infections.
- Case Manage and assist in follow up for exposures, i.e. COVID testing, and employee return to work protocols for all infectious diseases.
- Perform ergonomics assessment on staff/providers to ensure the appropriate use of equipment to prevent work related injuries.
- Conduct new employee and annual N95 fit testing.
- Manage and administer employee immunizations and TB testing and tracking during onboarding, as well as ongoing immunizations and titers as needed to maintain immunity. Maintain employee health records and ensure compliance with accepted standards of immunization of healthcare personnel.
Patient Safety
- Respond to medical emergencies as part of a response team, administering aid when needed at a non-ACLS level for outpatient clinics.
- Respond and follow up with patient onsite incidents and conduct follow plans to prevent future injuries.
- Participate in the Lift Team and the compliance program for ADA requirements.
- Facilitate the safety committee, value committee, vaccines committee, and others as appropriate.
- Coordinate planning and implementation of influenza vaccination clinics. Coordinate patient and employee influenza vaccination clinic throughout the organization, including the Vaccine for Children Program.
Employee Education
- Partner with Clinical RN Manager for in house-wide educational initiatives, including those related to regulatory compliance such Washington State Department of Health, OSHA as well as community standards.
- Identify and conduct employee education/training needs on health and safety and infection prevention and control topics (proper use of specific clinical equipment, techniques, use of PPE, safety and clinic wide policies).
- Coordinate, Conduct and Document Safety New Hire, Annual Safety, and other safety training.
Policies & Procedures
- Administer, develop, update and implement system wide policies and procedures relating to occupational health and safety, exposures, immunization, ergonomics, safety and training.
- Review and update safety policies and procedures on an annual basis or as needed.
- Research compliance issues for outpatient settings, employee health, and patient safety.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, infection prevention standards in all clinics and other work areas or as pertains to the Vaccine for Children, ADA Accommodations, CMS and AAAASF Preparedness, and coordinate with Infection Control Specialist on projects.
Other
- Work on special projects as assigned as pertains to Employee Health and Safety, performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
- Minimum 2 plus years’ experience as a registered nurse in an inpatient/outpatient setting.
- BLS certified (must commit to obtain certification within 3 months from hire).
- Ability to work independently to support clinic goals.
- Ability to speak and present to large groups of people, as well as one on one.
- Knowledge of the principles and methods of infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting.
- Strong working knowledge of computers including proficiency in Microsoft word, excel and power point.
LICENSURE:
- Current RN license for the State of Washington
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Flexible to work additional hours as requested, regular attendance is required.
- Good oral and written command of the English language.
- Must be able to effectively cope with typical job stress.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and contribute to a positive working environment.
