Job Description
As a Service Specialist, you will provide product-aligned support to portfolio managers, delivering insight to inform and enhance investment management decisions. You will also serve as the point of contact for the portfolio managers for any IOPS-related inquires and partners with stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and anticipate and understand portfolio events to analyze impact and proactively provide portfolio manager support.
The Service Specialist:
- Provides product-aligned support to portfolio managers, delivering insight to inform and enhance investment management decisions. Serves as the point of contact for the portfolio managers for any IOPS-related inquires and partners with stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery. Anticipates and understands portfolio events to analyze impact and proactively provide portfolio manager support. Acts as SME resource to IOPS Senior Analysts within IOPS Service. Completes complex daily and ad hoc tasks while working with tight deadlines, managing competing priorities and analyzing multiple inputs to meet operational objectives.
- Understands portfolio movements and provides guidance to portfolio managers across the Liquidity, Corporate Actions, and Trade Administration and Derivatives areas. Uses scenario analysis to increase event understanding and improve portfolio manager's decision making. Proactively identifies and mitigates external events and regulatory changes that impact team. Adheres to various control standards to ensure compliance and interacts with RMG and other partners to improve policy adherence.
- Provides accurate and timely responses to PM questions, using the IOPS organization to solution queries when needed. Anticipates portfolio events and portfolio management's needs to provide proactive service.
- Engages and collaborates with partners to provide holistic support. Understands when to escalate queries to IOPS Service Functional Specialists and when to leverage relationships outside of IOPS to deliver insight and functional assistance. Continually develops product support skills and strengthens insight through increased Service experience.
- Performs incident analysis and incorporates finding into process improvements. Evaluates workflows to enhance support model and guides the team to implement improvements.
- Maintains a broad and consistent knowledge of investment management landscape. Develops a comprehensive understanding of the portfolio(s) under support (products, structure, movement and events). Understands details driving the operational processes and the portfolio impacts.
What it takes:
- Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree and/or Professional Certification (CFA, MBA) preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of business related experience preferred. Investment Operations or related experience preferred.
- Strong analytical capability and understanding of financial concepts. Ability to quickly become knowledgeable in current and future policies, practices, trends and information affecting Vanguard's business and the Investment Operations organization.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders at all levels in the organization. Ability to lead initiatives to desired conclusion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to build solid business relationships.
- Ability to function in a fast paced, ambiguous environment working with multiple and diverse responsibilities, while maintaining client satisfaction
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications and investment management platforms (Aladdin, CRD, Access, etc.) preferred
- Readily learns new complex concepts and has the ability to incorporate them into analysis and decision making process. Excellent judgment and ability to analyze and respond to complex issues.Special Factors:Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship this position.
