As a DRAM BIOS Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for the design, development, verification, integration, improvement, debug, maintenance, deployment, and documentation of BIOS firmware source code. You will be part of the DRAM Systems Compatibility Group (DSCG), a team of engineers responsible for validating Micron DRAM modules through industry’s leading edge system testing. You will be expected to participate in all phases of firmware development, understand how things operate in DSCG, and understand how your solutions will be utilized to support DSCG activities and Micron's customers. You will work with other Micron engineers and technicians from groups including Production Engineering, Systems Integration, Test, QA, SpecTek, and RMA and occasionally communicate with external customers. Additionally, you will work with FAE and external customers to design firmware for use with Micron products.

Responsibilities and tasks include the following, but not limited to:

• Enhance BIOS firmware source code to enable system functionality
• Provide ongoing support of firmware utilized by internal and external groups
• Maintain a working knowledge of Micron products and customer platforms
• Continually acquire new skills (software/hardware) and knowledge
• Ability to read and understand product datasheets
• Configure and debug system level hardware and peripherals
• Collaborate with internal and external customers to continually improve system abilities

Qualifications and skills include, but not limited to:

• 8+ years of PC BIOS experience
• A clear understanding of DRAM modules, motherboards, processors, and other system components
• Experience with Intel, AMD, or ARM chipset architecture
• Experience with modifying and compiling BIOS sources
• Experience with Intel internal DRAM-related BIOS hardware such as (CPGC, CADB, etc.)
• Experience with low-level Linux and/or Windows drivers
• Familiarity with structure, organization and features of BIOS source code from Insyde and AMI
• Knowledge and specific understanding of the tradeoffs between different hardware and/or software implementations and how those implementations will affect the DRAM usage in those systems
• Strong understanding of how DRAM memory interacts with systems and end-customer solutions
• Highly effective, strong collaboration and teamwork skills
• Excellent analytical, analysis, and problem-solving skills
• Adaptable to a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment with multifaceted demands
