Your Role and Responsibilities [Principal Duties and Responsibilities] As a Client Technical Specialist for IBM Storage Hardware and Software, the candidate will act as technical consultant to IBM’s valued clients, IBM sales teams and IBM Business Partners and understand the client's business requirements, technical requirements and/or competitive landscape.
When engaged on a project, they will be responsible for the technical accuracy of the proposed solution and provide pre-sales technical support, which may include the following:
- Collaborating with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions
- Delivering Proof of Concept, Benchmark Test
- Developing and delivering technical education
- Supporting critical situations and driving client satisfaction
- Designing solutions and advising on technical questions
- Delivering solution proposal and presentation
What the candidate will bring to the team They will be an intelligent, goal oriented, creative and energetic individual with technical aptitude and they want to win! The approach they take to solve problems is consultative and are able to be persuasive, along with having presentation skills.
[Required Professional and Technical Expertise] - At least 7 years experience in working with storage software and hardware in a technical role (ie. pre-sales engineer, field system engineer)
- At least 7 years experience in a software defined storage engineer role while working in major storage vendor or business partner
- Scale-out file storage solution (ie, IBM Spectrum Scale, Lustre, EMC Isilon)
- Scale-out object storage solution (ie, IBM Cloud Object Storage, AWS S3, Oepnstack Swift, EMC ECS, Cloudian)
- Storage netowrking solution (ie, Infiniband Switch, SAN Switch, ROCE Network Switch)
- Linux & Open source solution (ie, Redhat/CentOS, xCAT, Openstack, Container)
- Flash storage solution (ie, IBM, EMC, Hitachi, Netapp)
- Server solution (ie, x86, IBM Power, GPU)
[Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise] - At least 5 years of experience selling flash storage and software defined storage solutions.
- At least 5 years of experience selling data protection solutions (Backup, Archive S/W).
- Capability of understanding client's technical requirements including request for proposal (RFP), BMT/PoC scenario and as-is configuration/architecture using SDS solutions and key storage products.
- Technical sales leadership to speak for IBM key SDS solutions with value differentiation, customer presentation, proposal writing and communication skills to manage team work and technical issue resolution.
