Still studying? Passionate to see confidential computing within the cloud? We are looking for interns who will work on providing flexible secured workload for our clients in IBM Research and Development in Böblingen, Germany.
IBM’s Hyper Protect Services offers you this exciting opportunity for an internship as Cloud Software Engineer within our team developing and operating the IBM Cloud Hyper Protect Virtual Servers Service.
The Hyper Protect services are a new set of offerings built on IBM Z providing higher levels of assurance and protection to Hybrid Cloud customers for whom a data breech would threaten their very existence. We seek to go beyond current compliances and offer higher levels of protection from both outsider and insider threats for Public and Private Cloud solutions. IBM Z and IBM Linux One offers the most available, secure, reliable, scalable hardware for large server farms.

Your Role and Responsibilities
During your internship as cloud software engineer, you will get the opportunity to:

• Work with an international product team on state-of-art cloud technology
• Work in an Agile environment in a large enterprise, developing software components for continuous delivery
• Learn and follow best practices including pair programing, test driven development (TDD) and automation of daily routine in test, deployment and production

You will learn about:

• Many facets of a development of a cloud platform in large enterprise environment — from the earliest stage of product architecture, design and development to deployment, and troubleshooting
• Agile software development in a worldwide team
• Best practices of modern software development for continuous delivery
• Cloud Technology such as Docker, Kubernetes and IBM Cloud

After the internship we might talk about options for a Thesis@IBM.
You will be part of the local development team and will have the opportunity to also work with the international product team, that will help you grow your skills and expertise. Good communication and teaming skills are mandatory; please also see section 'Required Professional and Technical Expertise'.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Skills:

• Software Development architecture & design
• Go or Java development language
• Automation tooling, such as Jenkins, Travis, etc.
• Agile development methods
• English: Fluent
• German: B1

Experience:

• Development of an application or component in a modern language such as Go, Java, JavaScript, etc.
• Usage of version control systems such as GIT and other command line tooling
• Microservices architecture and cloud technology in general, or specifically Container
• Agile development

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Skills:

• Kubernetes
• German: fluent

Experience:

• Published projects or contributions on GitHub, GitLab or similar platform
• Behavior driven development (BDD), test driven development (TDD)
• Operating applications and components on Cloud and Linux/ Unix/ LinuxONE
• Automation of operations procedures (e.g. build, test, deploy)
