What you’ll be doing...

As a Security Application Operations Support Engineer, you’ll provide software scripting and technical solutions for in-house Security and System Performance software applications supported by Network Security and Identity Access Management, used to secure employees, contractors and vendors access to network elements, applications and support Verizon’s VCP, 5G, LTE, VoLTE, 4G to name a few.

You will develop, enhance and participate in architecture changes for mission-critical network applications and databases to ensure the network organization has effective tools and customer-focused applications to meet security, alarming, monitoring and audit compliance of Verizon’s network. In addition, you’ll have cross functional responsibilities assisting 1st, 2nd and 3rd Tier operations support in maintaining applications.

  • Provide project status, and interface professionally with Network Security Services, Subject Matter Expert Engineers and Regional, Area and HQ Network Engineering teams across Verizon Wireless to deliver robust, scalable and manageable software solutions.
  • Ensure alignment with industry best practices, staying abreast of all pertinent technical standards and take end-to-end ownership of the features and products
  • Work closely with solutions planning, operations and development teams within Network Security Services and to ensure high-availability of applications.
  • Designing, configuring, implementing, troubleshooting and supporting security solutions on multi-site critical network environments.
  • Integrating security requirements with identity stores, relational databases, application servers and physical access management systems.
  • Providing policy and procedure interpretation and clarification, technical information and security guidance to managers, data owners, project leads, application development teams, system operators and users.
  • Communicating security risks in business terms that can be clearly understood at all levels of the organization.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux troubleshooting.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience working with development teams on the deployment of web based applications.
  • Experience with Identity and Access Management.
  • Experience with DevOps and experience working with tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, JiraMaven/Gradle, GIT/eGIT and Artifactory.
  • Experience in wireless development or operational support with applications utilizing Java, Swing, JSP, C++, HTML, GWT, Oracle, Shell Scripting in UNIX, Security Concept, WebServices.
  • Experience developing Security and System Performance software applications.
  • Experience with network security including VPN, Firewall, load-balancing, network security, and network management platforms.
  • Willingness to travel upto a maximum of 25%
