Your Role and Responsibilities The Senior Automation Architect works with the platform architecture team to define the automation strategy, tools, and supporting processes for the IBM SmartCloud for Government (SCG) offering and suite of Cloud Shared Services (CSS) infrastructure. The Senior Automation Architect develops use cases, identifies/researches and recommends technologies to deliver on those use cases, and oversees the configuration and implementation of those technologies in support of business objectives. This role is also expected to support new offering development and bids and proposals in support of winning new business for IBM’s government cloud portfolio.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise - Strong IT infrastructure experience across multiple disciplines (compute, storage, network, security, and operating systems) (7+ years)
- Basic understanding of programming logic / ability to write pseudo-code (individual does not need to be a developer but should be able to direct developers and review their code) (3+ years)
- Understanding of highly available, large scale, enterprise deployments (5+ years)
- Intermediate understanding of relational database systems (4+ years)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with security tools and technologies (3+ years)
- Familiarity with Agile and/or DevOps processes and methodologies (2+ years)
- Demonstrated strength in troubleshooting complex technical issues
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise - Familiarity with a variety of scripting languages desired (Javascript, Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc..)
- Windows Server, Enterprise Linux, VMware, and infrastructure tooling experience
- Familiar with a variety of database technologies desired (MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle DB)
- Experience with Trend Micro, IBM Qradar, Tenable Security Center highly desired
- Experience with Puppet and Ansible highly desired
