WD/Learning Specialist – Job Skills Training

The WorkForce Development(WD) Specialist at Micron, you will collaborate with customer groups – production and engineering leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), technicians and engineers to develop and manage onboarding, on-the-job training (OJT), and OJT mentor programs related to software and Machine Learning (ML). Additionally, the WD Specialist facilitates department orientation and technical bootcamps to prepare new team members for training with an assigned mentor and improve initial time to productivity.

Training

• Conduct job task analyses (JTA) to identify the responsibilities, tasks, knowledge and skills
• Create onboarding plans that organize new team member training into a logical learning flow
• Establish OJT curricula and learning items to support team member training of assigned work tasks
• Develop task-based certification checklists to evaluate team member proficiency
• Work with SMEs to develop and maintain managed training documents tied to certification learning items
• Conduct new employee orientations and bootcamps to keep pace with new hire onboarding
• Measure onboarding and OJT effectiveness, working with employee groups to implement improvements
• Communicate regularly with leaders from assigned areas to gather training needs and report on training initiatives

Documentation

• Identify business needs and determine content requirements for target audience
• Use standard English grammar, mechanics, and composition
• Adhere to appropriate standards, styles, and templates
• Build and modify graphics and images
• Edit and proofread documentation for accuracy
• Store documents in the appropriate repository, using the correct document securities and keywords
• Supervise and follow up on change requests
• Facilitate periodic document reviews for managed resources – job profiles, LEARN pages, curricula, training documents

Data analysis & reporting

• Extract and categorize data for analysis, visualization and decision making
• Develop graphs and charts for reporting
• Create, publish, and refresh reports on an agreed-upon cadence by stakeholders

Program ownership

• Facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of an assigned program using the fiscal-year roadmap process
• Document key business processes, guidelines and standards
• Identify gaps or discrepancies that exist and outline appropriate interventions
• Integrate standard methodologies, establish metrics, set targets, collect data and measure results
• Establish internal process health metrics to monitor program effectiveness and efficiency
• Implement feedback systems for continuous improvement

Safety & quality

• Complete required safety training and conduct work in accordance with safety policies
• Identify and promptly report hazards
• Follow safety procedures and area work rules
• Use accurate lifting techniques and work in an ergonomically accurate manner

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in technical learning and development role
• Proficiency in assembly, C, C++ programming and object-oriented design, Scripting and Machine Learning
• Excellent writing and presentation skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Camtasia and Captivate software applications

• Skilled in developing slide decks for all audiences and multiple purposes
• Effective meeting facilitation skills
• Work with other team members and senior stakeholders, gather learning requirements, develop plans and drive solution success.
• Experience working in a global collaborative environment focused on team approaches to solving problems
• Effective workload management skills, with proven ability to balance multiple tasks to meet the timelines
• Solid critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical abilities
• Able to understand technical issues and work with team members at all levels of the organization
• Self-motivated and directed, with a high level of initiative
• Experience with Confluence, Jira, SharePoint, Tableau, and Power BI is a plus
