Senior Director, Product Management

Job Description

Product Management in the Cloud division of NetApp is a business role that requires technical expertise in software platforms and the ability to grow/nurture businesses in a hybrid cloud world.

You must have the heart of a technologist and the mindset of an entrepreneur. Our responsibility is to help our customers in their digital/cloud transformation and lead our teams to build differentiated/value-driven products. You will be both a business leader and a change agent, as the industry is constantly reinventing itself

Key Responsibilities

• Define strategy for key product areas and roadmap in a manner that understands the NetApp strategy and our customers' journeys
• Partner With engineering and other key stakeholders to create a shared product vision and define deliverables through crisp product requirement documents
• Collaborate With customers to solve their problems and deliver mutual successes
• Effectively communicate and coordinate with key stakeholders

Desired Background

• Platform (PaaS or CaaS) background in the form of VMware; Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
• Public cloud and ecosystem understanding both in terms of technologies and monetization strategies
• Understanding of containers; Kubernetes; and the impact on platforms with the ability to make clear productfeature tradeoffs
• Ability to evaluate opportunistic product ideas
• Expertise segmenting customers and defining monetization plans
• Public speaker at conferences in the cloud-native ecosystem such as KubeCon; OpenShift Commons, or other is strongly preferred
• Track record of delivering software on-prem and in public clouds is strongly preferred

Product managers must have clarity on the market, an understanding of the product's technical capability, and the ability to translate customer needs into actionable cross-team deliverables. We do not produce wish lists of features and operate detached from the current realities. At the same time, we must inspire and help lead our teams

You will work with stakeholders within NetApp (software engineers, SRE teams, sales/marketing); external partners (public cloud, ISVs), and of course customers. You will take care of them and they will take care of you.
