DescriptionJoining Intuitive Surgical means joining a team dedicated to using technology to benefit patients by improving surgical efficacy and decreasing surgical invasiveness, with patient safety as our highest priority.
We are seeking a Data Visualization and User Experience Designer to join one of our Advanced Development team to play a key role in the design efforts for novel, cutting edge web, mobile, and software applications in ML/AI and healthcare.
You will be working alongside our team of surgical data scientists, machine learning scientists, and software engineers as well as our customers to establish new ways of interacting with our set of digital solutions to solve complex user experience problems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work across multiple teams to understand users’ behavior, pain points, and needs
- Clearly identifying assumptions and working to test them for user value and usability via low and high-fidelity designs
- Designing a data and content (this can also include video, images, illustrations, etc) space that tells a story to inform, facilitate exploration, and surface insights
- Responding to quantitative and qualitative learning with each iteration
- Maintain synchronicity with Intuitive’s next generation of experiences
- Produce and contribute reusable, buildable designs that conform and enhance our design language
- Participate in and contribute to user research activities. Work closely and collaborate with user research teams to formulate questions for user research and usability, synthesize key insights from observation and formative evaluations and report them back to the product development team
QualificationsSkills/Job Requirement - Minimum 5+ years of work experience in user experience design, interaction design, product design, or visual design
- Minimum 3+ years of designing data visualizations in a human-centered approach
- Methodical in identifying user problems, opportunities and successes; test assumptions and incorporate feedback
- Knowledge of standard charts and visualizations
- Knowledge of visualization best practices
- Empathetic listening and bidirectional communication skills demonstrated in effective interactions with users, peers, team members and management
- Strong facilitation and collaboration skills; ability to be flexible while maintain focus to strive for best outcomes
- Comfortable with ambiguity
- Healthcare focus a plus
- Be part of a growing team that is approachable, humble and always learning and collaborating with each other to deliver a cohesive customer centered experience
- Preference for Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a design-related field, e.g., Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or Product Design
• Proficient in the use of current design tools and software applications for design and prototyping (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Zeplin, InVision, Framer, etc) - Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Working team is located in Atlanta, Georgia but location is flexible
