We are currently seeking a Marketing Specialist focused on expansion and growth in our Government Systems Division in our Carlsbad, CA location. As a Marketing Specialist, you will help showcase the Viasat story by devoting your creative marketing talents to initiatives that help strengthen our brand and sell our products. You will be an integral part of the marketing team focused on creating marketing assets to help tell the Viasat story and showcase our cutting-edge communications technology.
You should have a bias toward action, an ability to understand the big picture, to work independently, and to communicate quickly and accurately back to the Business Leadership team. You will be required to meet and exceed the client's direct and indirect objectives with great service that is planned and executed through clear internal and external communication and aggressive follow-up.
In this role you will:
Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that promote Viasat’s tactical data links/line-of-sight communications products and services to military/defense and government-related markets as well as provide additional support to our satellite communications and cybersecurity areas.
Work across several aspects of marketing - from branding and positioning to targeted outreach, Go-to-Market strategy, product launch campaigns, and product demo events.
Develop innovative product marketing strategies and plans that drive brand awareness and product adoption.
Collaborate with team members/business partners to develop, execute, and measure multiple integrated digital marketing campaigns, aligned with business goals
Assist in the development and use of advanced data centric targeting capabilities to drive improvements in channel effectiveness
Leverage data to advance paid media strategies, track and report campaign and channel effectiveness, uncover relevant insights, and identify channel optimization opportunities to ensure highest possible return on advertising spends
Translate technical details into benefits for our customers.
Follow and analyze market trends and gather customer insights and feedback to inform product marketing strategy and initiatives.
Guide the creation of marketing assets (flyers, white papers, digital assets, brochures, presentations, photos, and videos).
Partner cross-functionally with product management, engineering, sales, business development, and senior leadership.
Develop storyboards, write scripts, and direct in-house team in the production of video and interactive multimedia projects that explain the benefits of Viasat’s products to current and prospective customers.
Who you are:
You are passionate about and fluent in the national security sector’s language.
You have a strong writing ability and ability to craft white papers.
You are passionate about and have knowledge of Viasat’s customer base and national security ecosystem more broadly.
You are data and results driven.
You understand how to tell a story through visual, written, and creative assets.
5+ years of experience in marketing or related position that requires extensive hands-on copywriting, product marketing, and project management experience.
Proven ability to think from the customer’s point of view and translate very technical information into effective marketing messages relevant to the customer.
Strong understanding of marketing fundamentals such as positioning, differentiation, market segmentation, value propositions, customer personas, purchase decision sales cycle journey maps, and SWOT analysis.
Must be an exceptionally creative and strategic thinker, with a strong understanding of marketing best practices and how to bridge the gap between technical functionality and customer needs.
Exceptional interpersonal communication and collaboration skills with peers, internal and external customers, and executive team.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, or related field or equivalent experience.
US government position. US Citizenship is required.
Travel up to 10% may be required
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud apps including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver
Experience in using a marketing automation platform such as Marketo
B2G Marketing experience with a focus in tactical data links/line-of-sight networking, satellite, cybersecurity/information assurance, telecommunications, wireless, or technology industry
Proficiency in SEO, PPC, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, and marketing analytics
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Windows 7, and Google Chrome.
