Penguin Random House Sales is excited to hire for an Associate Manager, Education Marketing to join our growing team. Reporting to the Marketing Director, Secondary Education, and Marketing Manager, Elementary Education, the Associate Manager has two key focuses: to support PreK-12 marketing outreach across all divisions of Penguin Random House; to serve as the Education Marketing liaison for assigned client publishers. Key responsibilities include creating marketing plans, developing effective marketing messages, supporting sales, and executing lead generation initiatives and customer renewal strategies that drive revenue while increasing market share.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support both managers in the planning and execution of PreK-12 marketing efforts, which include: title/list curation, content creation for websites, copywriting, teacher guide development, and conference planning.
  2. Develop compelling content for ads, e-mail marketing campaigns, newsletters, website blogs, social media posts, and other direct mail and digital promotions directed at the education market.
  3. Collaborates with the Marketing OPS team, assists in the creation of marketing collateral to support education sales team (e.g., title information sheets)
  4. Maintains regular and productive communication with the divisional school & library departments on corporate projects.
  5. Assists managers with communications to three teacher advisory boards, including sending meeting invitations, crafting agendas, notetaking, and coordinating in-person events.
  6. Works closely with supervisor and Marketing OPS team on strategizing company presence at key educational conferences including: National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), and District Administration (DA), among others; coordinates author events, develops title lists, organizes ancillary resources, and writes conference reports.
  7. Researches potential educational partners for special promotional opportunities.
  8. Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans and initiatives for assigned clients, focusing on both frontlist and key backlist titles.
  9. Presents informative and compelling title presentations at annual PreK-12 and Higher Ed sales conferences.
  10. Maintains regular and productive communication with client publishers on marketing initiatives.
  11. Attends client publisher launch and strategy meetings, identifies priority titles, and composes marketing plans for said titles.
  12. Attends approximately 4-6 educational conferences per year as Penguin Random House representative. Drives achievement of conference key performance indicators.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of marketing experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Good relationship building and maintenance skills both internally across various teams and externally with partners
  • Proactive, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively with employees across all levels within an organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and WordPress
  • Ability to travel domestically via train, plane, or car up 4-6 times per year

Preferred:

  • K-12 teaching experience
  • Educational marketing experience for a trade publishing house, preferably in a school & library dept.
