These positions reside w/in our Platform Operations Team that is responsible for installing, configuring and administering multiple middleware stacks, including Apache, WebSphere and Tomcat. This team supports development, quality assurance and production users in multiple environments for a large, multi-tier multi-vendor solution in our Consumer Lending line of business. The team is also tasked with administering source code management and engaging with development teams on branching strategy and POM file management for Maven build process.

We are seeking individuals with experience in facilitating a domain model and managing and administering clusters for highly available solutions. Candidates should have knowledge of IBM BPM Process Center (as source code management) and Process Server (as runtime environment), Subversion and Git (version control); these tools are used to support development work and promotion of code and production operations. Candidates should also possess solid understanding of the build, release deploy process, particularly having experience with JFrog Artifactory, Jenkins Build and IMB uDeploy tools.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Enforce release management process and methodology to ensure quality is delivered and SLAs are met, ensuring development teams are following defined process for code delivery, configuration management and quality.
  • Manage development and QA toolsets, including unit test integration, IDE configuration and support, bug tracking, code reviews and system documentation (Atlassian suite, Sonar, Fortify, BRDMS, etc.).
  • Manage necessary RHEL configurations for performance tuning and availability of hosted application server stack, including managing file permissions, NAS mounts, and required UNIX scripting.
  • Participate in and support application performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Manage the interoperability of various middleware systems in heterogeneous environment and employ system process automation where possible.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with Development Teams, Integration Leads, Quality Assurance teams, Release Delivery Managers, BAR team, Infrastructure teams.
  • Create and deliver daily status reports, perform post release execution analysis and reporting, recommend process improvements.

These positions will be located in Des Moines IA and are NOT ELIGIBLE for relocation assistance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience with the installation, configuration, implementation or administration of Jboss Application Server


Desired Qualifications

  • An industry-standard technology certification
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • 3+ years of Tomcat development or implementation experience
  • 3+ years of Unix shell scripting experience
  • 1+ year of Python experience
  • 3+ years of WebSphere experience
  • 2+ years of Puppet experience
  • Server experience
  • Advanced scripting skills specifically around automation, log rotation, data collection, error collection and alerting
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Shell, VBScript, or JavaScript
  • Knowledge and understanding of GitHub
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology support: troubleshooting highly complex tiered environments
  • Advanced problem solving and technical troubleshooting capabilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical documentation: issues in a concise and understandable manner
