Position summary

Visual Designer // Art Director

Art Directors are seasoned Designers whose work is split between design thinking/definition and creating the solution. They have a mastered understanding of creative tools and the creative process, and are able to be a conduit between creative management and design production.

Work you’ll do

As an Art Director in our practice you will:

• Demonstrate a clear passion for the creative process, craft, and mentoring others
• Have awareness of the challenges that equally weigh on businesses and the end-customer — with recognition of how each impacts the design experience
• Be a design lead for (often) a single client and/or project — and work to become versed in the broader concerns of all Design competencies
• Assist with the creative vision for the experience, responsible for details of production files, client interaction, and capable of serving as a designer on projects with oversight from Design leadership while leading others on the Design team
• Be responsible for conceptualization and design solutions from start to completion
• Work with Designers, Creative Directors, and typically oversee the day-to-day work on a single project from beginning to end
• Work closely with both internal cross-functional teams and external clients on projects of varying length and complexity
• Serve as an integrator between business needs and technology solutions, helping to create technology solutions to meet clients’ business needs
• Maintain responsibility for completion and accuracy of work products
• Work comfortably and amiably with other project team members

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree and 5–10 years of design experience
• Portfolio that shows examples of project or personal work, including but not limited to sketches, branding, visual designs, mobile and web layouts, wireframes
• A clear passion and enthusiasm for learning and pursuing their craft; constantly challenging the definition of what makes good design
• Experience creating designs, from concept through prototyping, with modern programs or technologies such as, but not limited to Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Marvel, and Principle
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines
• Well-rounded knowledge of design principles and techniques
• Ability to organize and self-direct to get things done
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
  

Preferred:

• Prior professional services or federal consulting experience
• Ability to design and build clickable and/or animated prototypes using modern tools such as, but not limited to InVision, Marvel, FRAMER.js, Principle or After Effects
• Ability to deliver coded prototypes using HTML, CSS, JS (front-end skills)
• Experience with desktop, web and mobile applications and frameworks i.e. iOS, Android, Windows Phone, webOS, Bootstrap, etc.
• Familiarity or experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and working in Agile environments
