Primary Job Function

ExxonMobil is interested in finding outstanding senior geoscientists to join the Moscow Exploration Team.

Job Role Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to have the ability to integrate knowledge, varied data sets, analogs and ideas to solve geological problems to support the business. They must provide sound judgment, timeliness and aptitude in application of geoscience and geophysical tools and techniques. In addition an informed understanding of internal upstream business and commercial terminology, processes and systems needs to be developed. It will be performed at the regional and sub-regional scale and is critical to capturing value by supporting exploration and portfolio growth. There is a requirement for demonstrated leadership, adaptability, teamwork, excellent communication skills in English and Russian, and a commitment to high safety and ethical standards. In addition, candidates should be able to work effectively within and across diverse team environments. The candidate is expected to build broad networks across the Upstream as they will have frequent interactions with global subsurface and surface specialists, and senior management. Outside engagements and relationships are expected with third parties, including partners and contractors. The position may require periodic Domestic and International travel. The role will require competency in, but is not limited to:

  • Regional to reservoir scale 2D and 3D seismic interpretation, seismic reservoir characterization, and the ability to build structural and stratigraphic frameworks
  • In-depth experience with interpretation of seismic data, rock physics, well data, and acquisition methods
  • Experience in velocity modelling, depth conversion, well-tie analysis, seismic attribute analysis, Amplitude Versus Offset
  • Experience in performing regional studies, evaluating new opportunities, opportunity generation, prospect identification and maturation, with a focus on uncertainty and risk assessment
  • Significant and proven expertise in highly integrated exploration projects, with a demonstrable track record of quantitative interpretation
  • Experience in petrophysical analysis
  • Strong sedimentological understanding of carbonate and clastic reservoir systems
  • Data management skills and the ability to work with datasets of varying quality
  • Experienced Petrel user, a working knowledge of specialized geophysical software is desirable (i.e. Hampson-Russell, RokDoc, Jason etc.)
Job Requirements
  • Candidates should have a BS, MA/MS and /or PhD degree from a recognized university Geology, Geophysics, or Physics (or related fields) and a minimum of 7 years of industry experience
  • Strong computational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in English and strong communication skills
  • Willing to travel internationally including offshore, based on business needs
  • CV must be submitted in English
