Our Exciting Opportunity:

We are now looking for an experienced leader with deep technical acumen in telecom field services and network operations to be the Area VP of Network Operations in the Northeast US. Are you in?

You will be responsible for delivering outstanding operational performance across all services, including wireless and wireline as well as lead a field force of over 1,000 personnel who perform construction, site maintenance, installation and operation services.

As a pivotal leader, you will support business objectives through operational procedures that encompass the use of technology to improve processes, accuracy, metrics, compliance, safety, reporting and outstanding customer service. You will also maintain strategic client relationships and support vendor/contractor management, ensuring infrastructure stability and overall network performance.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Network Build & Operate organization and provide the leadership and subject matter expertise to assure the consistent execution of this vision.
  • Maintain positive relationships across the organization engaging key partners and constituents, specifically Customer Units, Engineering, Finance, Sourcing, OHS and the National Service Lines to meet the team’s goals and objectives
  • Improve and ensure a culture of safety and ethical compliance across a large geographically diverse field force.
  • Coordinate the management and implementation of large-scale projects and service contracts
  • Maintain and improve a customer-focused environment for both internal and external customers, passionate about problem prediction, detection and resolution
  • Identify areas of new business opportunities; develop the business case, proposals and implementation plan for these new ventures
  • Collaborate with internal supplier management teams to identify requirements and develop strategies for critical suppliers
  • Ensure full compliance with all federal, state and municipal regulations.
  • Maintain and update disaster recovery procedures and protocols
  • Be responsible for the Network Operations budget, identifying areas of cost efficiency and margin improvement
  • Implement improved processes, which utilize technology, to improve jobs, processes, training, tools and overall work quality
  • Partner with senior management, talent acquisition and human resources to recruit, onboard, train, develop and retain staff
  • Execute focused performance management plans for the team
  • Define and communicate annual goals, perform formal and informal performance reviews, and ensure changes and updates are communicated in a timely and professional manner
  • Create a strong collaborative team environment that focuses on safety and career development and progression for employees

To be successful in this role you have:

Commercial & technical skills

  • Demonstrated technical expertise related to Construction and Operations, and experience advising customers on the best, win-win solution.
  • Consistent record to drive out of the box thinking, including understanding and developing financially complex business models.
  • Proven experience delivering large network roll-out projects, including experience handling hundreds of sites per week.
  • Success with strategic and tactical planning
  • A history of building strong customer relationships

Financial & business skills:

  • Demonstrated financial management and budgeting skills
  • Consistent record of positively impacting an organization’s bottom line
  • Ability to and experience of providing input to organizational business and budget planning

Leadership skills & other experience:

  • Experience leading large teams (500+), including direct and dotted line reports, and employee and contractor resources
  • Consistently motivate and align large cross-functional, matrixed teams striving towards the same goal
  • Ability to balance different projects/priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes sometimes in high-pressure situations
  • Experience with North American customers is highly desired
  • Bachelor’s degree; preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or another related discipline
