The Business Operations Manager is part of a cross-practice-group shared services team that supports all aspects of project delivery, from bid and proposal to contracting to delivery support, invoicing, and collections. The Business Operations Manager will support and help coordinate project delivery activities, as well as plays a key strategic role helping Promontory leaders manage their practices.
Objectives of this new role include:
- Relieve immediate client engagement and staffing challenges
- Facilitate and support an environment to allow the business in Asia Pacific to scale
- Provide experience of IBM systems and networks to drive issue resolution
- Provide local accountable focals and escalation paths
- Drive and support the transition into GBS and onto GBS tool, minimizing the impact to Promontory staff
- Define and provide appropriate ongoing support to Promontory Client Facing staff, aligned to GBS ways of working
- Enable Engagement Managers and new team members on essential project tasks
- Support business reporting requirements
- Facilitate relationships between GBS and Promontory account teams, driving synergy sales and partnering in the region
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Business Execution Support - Collaborate with Global Operations Lead to facilitate smooth engagement support.
- Facilitate engagement and interaction with GBS and other parts of IBM on complex deal management
- Coordinate IBM and Promontory engagement support resource management and PMO, off-shore GBS shared service Bid Management and PMO support via Q2C Ops and Pre-Sales support teams, GBS Procurement, GBS Resource Management.
- Act as an escalation focal point and drive issue resolution, working with both Promontory and GBS teams
- Facilitate consultant engagement in collaboration with PMO, Resource Deployment and Human Resources teams
- Facilitate business compliance requirements, including cross-border working, procurement, training, and off-boarding, in collaboration with GBS Risk Management team and Promontory Mobility Manager
- Collaborate with PFG and IBM control functions to support compliance and mitigate business risk
- Facilitate cross-practice collaboration
- Liaise with Integration team on key integration activities, upline business updates, and Promontory strategic planning
Business Planning and Capacity Management - Collaborate with Practice Leads, their key delegates, and Global Operations Team to create a platform where business plans can meet growth and profit objectives
- Serve as a focal point for Promontory on Demand Interlock process, including rolling out and driving adoption of new (to Promontory) process
- Facilitate development of capacity management plan to balance resources to growth and profit objectives (via Professional Marketplace)
- Facilitate annual plan and budget submission process for Promontory Global Finance in collaboration with Practice Leads and their key delegates.
Business Development - Work collaboratively with the Promontory Global Sales function and AP leadership to support local management with sales and strategy for Promontory AP
- Facilitate engagement with GBS in relevant countries and ensure coordination and collaboration for account planning, within the boundaries of the Independence Policy where applicable
- Monitor and co-manage milestones associated with campaigns outside of Promontory that leverage Promontory expertise and staff
- Work collaboratively with the local Promontory staff who support regular sales activity and pipeline reporting to Promontory and Global Leadership.
Performance Measurement and Business Insight - Agree and establish regular management system and reporting cadence, engaging appropriate stakeholders
- Engage with Global Sales and Operations and support local teams with business reporting and insights against key metrics (signings, revenue, utilization, P&L, hiring, attrition) for the Promontory Business
- Collaborate with PMO, Sales Ops, Practice Leads/delegates to ensure timely business management data entry by engagement teams and support sales forecasting discipline with Sales Ops
People Agenda - Coordinate with Promontory HR focal to surface any issues requiring escalation
- Support in-flight HR activities including local hiring plans, recruitment, onboarding, leaver management process, engagement in IBM initiatives, and links to broader GBS and IBM learning initiatives.
Change Management - Help manage the local shift from integration to GBS
- Manage exceptions and eventual migration
- Support management team as they adapt to IBM manager role
- Collaborate with the change management team and drive implementation of recommendations locally
