Primary Purpose of the Position:


• The Manager of Engineering is responsible for all Engineering & Maintenance activities in the Plant. Primary responsibilities are to lead the Engineering & Maintenance Organizations to ensure the plant meets its safety, environmental, quality, cost & productivity commitments.
• The position leads a reliability improvement culture by developing & implementing all reliability activities in the Plant. These activities include root cause failure analysis, and proactive activities to identify & eliminate problems utilizing predictive tools.
• Train, mentor & coach teams to improve plant performance. Responsible for team development & succession planning.
• Manage the Plants Capital investment program ensuring the plants equipment will meet the needs of the Business. Stay abreast of new developments in technology to ensure continual improvements in plant equipment and efficiencies.
• Ensure compliance to all EHS, Quality System, Corporate & Legal requirements.
• Track and Manage all Engineering & Maintenance costs to ensure compliance to business requirements.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:


20% Reliability:
• Develop, Implement and Drive the reliability strategy for the Plant.
• Lead all Engineering & Maintenance activities to maintain the facility and equipment to support efficient Manufacturing operations.
• Develop, implement & maintain the use of predictive tools to support the reliability strategy.
• Direct, review & approve equipment design changes to improve equipment performance.


20% People & Culture:
• Train, mentor & coach team members to develop capabilities & improve performance
• Recruit employees, assign, direct & evaluate their work, oversee the development & maintenance of staff competence.
• Implement & Support team development & training needs.
• Develop succession plans for Engineering & Maintenance Organization.
• Support collective bargaining agreement and participate in problem resolution.


20% Safety & Environmental :
• Assure safety awareness by compliance to all safety requirements, including Hot Work, CHE & Arc Flash.
• Ensure all equipment complies with all Corporate, State & City environmental requirements.
• Track, analyze & manage Utility costs to meet Plants Business Objectives.
• Maintain Plants Facility systems (power distribution systems, fire protection systems, HVAC & power house equipment.


20% Deliver Results:
• Manage Plant Capital Investment plan. Coordinate & direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals & directing the integration of technical activities. Stay abreast of new developments in technology to ensure continuous improvements in Plant operations.
• Manage Engineering expense & labor budget to plan.


20% Operations:
• Support plant operations in reaching goals established in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, Production, Policy Compliance.
• Participate in the Plants daily operations meetings, drive & support resolution of key issues to support plant operations.
• Drive equipment performance by focusing on continuous improvements
• Lead planning for Plant shutdown activities.


Education & Certifications :


• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.

Experience:


• 5-10 years of Engineering experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
• 5+ years of Management Experience.
• Experience in Union Environment.
• Demonstrated experience in leading Capital Investment Projects (equipment / facility).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :


• Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Civil and Automation.
• Strong Leadership and Coaching skills.
• Strong problem solving skills and mentality.
• Courageous and willing to make decisions.
• Collaborative style and ability to influence.
