About the role:

Health systems in APAC are evolving and decision-makers are increasingly looking for evidence of value to support reimbursement and therapy adoption. We are seeking a HEMA professional to join our dynamic regional team and lead health economics, reimbursement and market access strategies for key products in our Interventional Oncology (IO) franchise.

The role reports to the Director of HEMA for APAC, and will collaborate closely with regulatory, medical, HEMA, marketing, and commercial in each country.

The individual in this role is responsible for obtaining, expanding and protecting reimbursement for Boston Scientific's interventional oncology projects (Therasphere, ablation and embolizing beads), EKOS acoustic pulse thrombolysis and Varithena in the Asia Pacific region.

External stakeholders include governments, policy makers, HTA bodies, institutions, patient groups and professional organizations as well as individual physicians and healthcare professionals. In all interations, building BTG/Boston Scientific's reputation as a credible, ethical & innovative partner amongst these stakeholders will be critical. This position presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced market access expert with a track record of obtaining reimbursement for medical devices in Asia Pacific, specifically Australia, Korea and Japan.

Principal Duties:

  • Develop and execute market access capabilities to influence and accelerate favourable reimbursement for Boston Scientific's interventional oncology products and venous products (Therasphere, ablation and embolizing beads), EKOS acoustic pulse thrombolysis and Varithena in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Lead reimbursement planning, execution and negotiation, incorporating health economics tools into the local prices negotiation process through a deeper understanding of the space and patient needs/benefits. Provide thought leadership to local countries on best in class reimbursement cases for key APAC markets.
  • Develop tools and processes to evaluate ROI of market access investments and pricing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with BSC's regulatory, medical, marketing, commercial teams and distributors in each country within the region to maximize effectiveness and ensure coordination between functions
  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders e.g. governments, policy makers, HTA bodies, institutions, patient groups and professional organizations as well as individual physicians and healthcare professionals. Act as the point fo interface between BSC and these bodies/individuals, and ensure that they view BSC as a credible and trusted partner.
  • Ensure compliance with all local laws regulating commercial activities and that all interactions and engagements are carried out with the highest ethical and professional standards and that all work is accomplished with quality and in accordance with BSC's values.
  • Carry out other resonable tasks as required by the Line Manager

Education and Experience

  • Advanced degree and training in health economics. Strong working knowledge of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and health economics tools
  • At least seven (7) years of work experience in the region with industry/ HTA body/ payer experience with demonstrated knowledge of APAC healthcare systems including expertise in healthcare financing, reimbursement policies related to the devices industry, and technology assessment. Experience in the pharma/medical device Oncology space is a significant advantage.
  • Advanced knowledge of pricing and reimbursement systems in Japan, Australia, and/ or Korea and able to develop and adapt health economic models independently
  • Commercial and Can-Do mindset
