In your role, you will:
Responsible for establishing key Methods projects and or/programs and provide Methods support to assigned sections of the business. Act as a focal for Methods in dealing with other functions and partners. Guide the completion of special/major projects and/or programs by functioning as an advisor to the unit and subordinates to meet schedules and resolve technical or operational issues.
• Establishes work assignments for subordinates
• Monitors progress to evaluate work performance and loading of tasks for individuals and equipment, maximizing the effective use of both
• Coordinates the priority of work with Production departments to insure that jobs are accomplished in a sequence that maximizes benefit
• Maintains employee attendance records
• Participates with the Methods Manager in hiring employees, conducting performance reviews, counseling sessions, and the issuance of disciplinary actions
• Organizes and presents formal technical reviews, writes and edits methods engineering documents
• Develops technical solutions to complex problems regarding the most efficient methods of fabrication and assembly of aircraft components
• Participates in the preparation of manufacturing plans, first article schedules, defining optimum work sequence, determining shop layouts, time studies, line balancing and other methods engineering activities as necessary to insure attainment of performance targets
• Coordinates with Engineering regarding producability
• Coordinate production with Quality Assurance inspection activities as they may be related to work in progress
• Assume additional related responsibilities as required
Qualifications
As our ideal candidate,
• You have at least 3 years’ experience in Methods Engineering
• You have Flight controls/ Rigging experience
• You have Leading Edge & Trailing Edge Experience
• You have working knowledge regarding process improvement/re-engineering methodology and application (e.g., Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing Principles)
• You have working knowledge of reading and interpreting aircraft blueprints, drawings, specifications, standards, and manuals
• You have working knowledge of production scheduling and quality guidelines
• You have working knowledge of operational processes, systems, tools, and workflow for assigned area
• You have working knowledge of point-of-contacts for support functions of assigned area, for example, HR, payroll, purchasing, facilities, and travel
• You have working knowledge of employment rules and regulations as they apply to hiring, discipline, performance appraisal, personal information and termination
• You have thorough knowledge of Project Management principles
• You have planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize, assign, and coordinate workload of assigned area of employees within a multiple project setting
• You have interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, management, and contractors
• You have leadership skills to make decisions with sound judgment, train and mentor employees for improved performance, coordinate activities of multiple departments, and guide day-to-day operations successfully
• You have presentation skills necessary to effectively communicate, update, persuade, and/or facilitate discussions with all levels of management
• You have the ability to provide training to others
• You have the ability to multitask and be flexible to handle change in meeting requirements and deadlines
• You have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering - preferred
• You have Lean certification - preferred
• You have Six Sigma certification - preferred
