Your Role and Responsibilities Utilize knowledge and skills applicable to the field of Occupational Health (OH). You will work on prevention, investigate and treat /manage workplace-related illnesses and injuries. You will identify possible health hazards related to workplace and work environmental and consult the management and employees on proper protection techniques. You will support, coordinate and manage the care of ill and injured workers within a variety of OH programs, targeting individual and organizational aspects of the work such as medical case management, return-to-work programs or health benefits.
- Maintain liaison with insurance companies and health care providers to ensure completion of all referral related activities. Assist with complaints/concerns and provide feedback to appropriate personnel. Monitor outside relationships with departments, hospitals, treating physicians, and insurance company. Manage documentation and record keeping as well as run routine analysis and provide reports.
- Apply knowledge of occupational injury/illness process to assess, document, report and manage programs for prevention and impact mitigation. Facilitate appropriate employee entry into the health care system and return to productivity. Perform statistical and cost analysis to generate data insight. Validate program effectiveness and compliance with government regulations and IBM policy and practice.
- Apply public and population health principles (vector-borne diseases, sanitation, food safety, etc.) to minimize risk by evaluating work environments, performing appropriate measurements and evaluations. Use epidemiological principles to understand illnesses and injuries relevant to population served.
- Advise customer on appropriate actions and work practices. Develop and implement prevention programs, communications tools, testing and control of subsequent exposures (i.e., TB exposure). Evaluate and report program effectiveness on an ongoing basis.
- Monitor and evaluate data from trusted sources to inform stakeholders on the impact and management of global health issues and emerging health risks. Liaise with local health authorities, global organizations and internal leadership in developing policies, procedures, and plans that support individual and community well-being.
- Apply the knowledge of IBM internal requirements and standards as well as legal requirements to create and maintain an audit ready and compliant CH&S operation and vendor / contractor service. This includes CH&S standards as well as Business Conduct Guidelines, IT Security Standards and Data Privacy Regulation.
- Perform ongoing administration of programs including medical documentation, scheduling meetings, client services and customer service, and tracking and reporting. Investigate cases and provide resolution. Track issues for problem patterns. Document and recommend process changes and maintain necessary material for documentation. Communicate applicable requirements to the organization within their scope of responsibility to maintain compliance.
- Apply knowledge of OH and evidenced based medicine to develop/implement and manage the program requirements. Document and recommend process changes and maintain necessary material for documentation. Manage outside vendors and internal IBM relationships as they relate to OH programs including business controls, communications, and contract negotiations. Communicate applicable requirements to the organization within their scope of responsibility to maintain compliance. Monitor and assess results.
- Apply organizational and project management methodologies in planning, executing the development and negotiations of contracts. Lead bid teams when necessary to achieve contract closure. Develop and negotiate contracts for project type offerings so that they correctly reflect IBM medical project management techniques. Manage outside vendors and internal IBM relationships as they relate to medical programs including business controls, communications, and contract negotiations. Communicate applicable requirements to the organization within their scope of responsibility to maintain compliance.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise - At least 5 years experience in Nursing
- At least 5 years experience in Occupational Health
- At least 4 years experience in Medical/Disability Case Management Licensed in Registered Nurse
- Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise - At least 2 years experience in Project Management
- At least 2 years experience in Data Analysis, Analytics
- At least 2 years experience in People Management and/or Leadership Certified in Case Management
- Certified in Occupational Health Nursing
