Linux System Administrator

Our team is responsible for troubleshooting, and maintenance of our core Linux environments in the Datacenters. The administrator will be responsible for working with members of our Technical Delivery Teams, Incident management team, and Engineers Architecture teams to support and improve the delivery of hybrid cloud and managed services.

What you’ll do

• Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to Windows and Linux server systems, software, and hardware.
• Respond to queries either by chat, paged alert, or over the phone
• Respond to end users asking for help through our ticketing system (Jira) & ServiceNow
• Work with developers and other IT Teams to resolve the issue
• Build and update documentation for related tools and processes. Write training manuals and technical documents as needed.
• Ability to research and troubleshoot issues, even if not familiar
• Automate various processes and policies, working with stakeholders to reach consensus on solutions, provide status, and work with other teams to accomplish goals in a timely manner
• Provide mentorship and assistance to your teammates as they build additional scripting and automation skills; teach team members coding standards, documentation and best practices around code re-use
• This is an on-call role that rotates among team members.

Who you are

• Should have experience with Bash, Network traffic packet capture, Linux to AD authentication methods, Linux LVM and Filesystem management, User and group management, Outstanding Linux OS troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of Managing Physical Server hardware running Linux OS( HP/Dell Servers), Linux OS Backup and restore solutions
• Intermediate-to-advanced level of experience with Python
• Experience with at least one infrastructure-as-code solutions such as Puppet/Chef or Terraform, Syslog servers like Splunk
• Hands-on experience as Linux administrator in a large hosting environment (hundreds to thousands of hosts)
• Experience with core shared services such as DNS, virtualization, load balancing, OS and artifact repositories, and monitoring, troubleshooting Linux performance and stability issues (including system resources, system configuration, application analysis)
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable, Red hat distributions like CentOS 6/7/8
• Hands-on expertise as an administrator for Windows Server OS (2012, 2012R2, 2016)
• Solid understanding of Active Directory and sophisticated knowledge of related services (IIS/DNS/DHCP, etc) cloud/datacenter oriented
• Experience in troubleshooting Windows Server performance & stability issues
• Working knowledge and understanding of MS SQL Databases and Clusters
• Overall understanding of Windows Server OS components and architecture, Windows Automation and Scripting (PowerShell etc.)
• Familiarity with Azure or AWS (IAAS/PAAS), VMware ESXi Hypervisors.
