We are looking for a Train Attendant for our Escondido, CA area facility.
In your role as a Train Attendant, you will:
The Train Attendant shall be assigned to a train with an Operator and both employees shall be defined as a Crew Member for that day’s activities. The Train Attendant’s duties shall include, but not limited to, assisting with lining switches, verifying speed restrictions/track bulletins with the Operator, and complying with all applicable rules and regulations. The Train Attendant position shall be classified as Safety Sensitive as defined in the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUDC) General Order 143-B, Section 12.01.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- To ensure that there is a proper job briefing with the Operator prior to moving any equipment
- To ensure that there is proper communication between the Train Attendant and the Operator
- To ensure all SPRINTER passengers are safely on the train or platform prior to the Operator proceeding. This will require verbal notification or in lieu of hand signal(s) to the Operator announcing that all passengers are clear and it is safe to proceed.
- In the event that passengers must evacuate the train, the Train Attendant will ensure that the passengers are kept informed of the circumstances and direction for evacuation. The Train Attendant will confer with the Operator and once it has been determined it is safe to de-train, the Train Attendant will ensure passengers are safely de-trained and moved to a place of safety.
- The Train Attendant shall verify that passengers have a valid ticket while riding the SPRINTER system.
- The Train Attendant will assist the Operator at the end of each run, including proper securement of the train (e.g. ensuring all passengers have exited the train, the doors have been closed, and the Train Crew can complete the pre-trip/post-trip tasks).
- The Train Attendant will be required to sweep each vehicle at the end of every trip to ensure all passengers have de-trained safely. In addition, Train Attendants will be required to pick up trash, spills, graffiti, etc. for removal and disposal.
- The Train attendant will be required to immediately report any unusual conditions or occurrences to the Operator. This would include any mechanical issues, security items, or emergency situations.
Qualifications
Training
Paid training will be provided in Escondido, CA area upon hire; including the requirement of a PC 832 Certification.
Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma/GED

18 years of age or older

Valid Driver's License

2 years verifiable work experience and/or college
Preferred Qualifications
