Software Development Engineer

Within SAP, S/4HANA Consumer Industries Cloud (CIC) is a new business unit at SAP S/4HANA with a focus on Industry Cloud, an emerging market segment where SAP guides its customers towards evolving their industry-centric business models with new processes, tools, and business services. CIC complements SAP existing Business Suite and helps the entire company keep pace with new market trends.

Within CIC, the purpose of Eureka is to build, learn, and take new SaaS applications to market that delight our customers and fill needs in our current CIC product offerings. EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As a Software Development Engineer, you are involved in all stages of the product development and deployment lifecycle: idea generation, planning, design, prototyping, execution, shipping, and iteration. You might spend one day with product managers asking questions about the product and the next brainstorming mockups with Product Designers. Then, it's time to take on the hard technical problems: figuring out how to develop the feature as a scalable service or scheduler and/or make it possible for a UI to access the full range of data through APIs at vast scale, then dive deep to understand each data point at a granular level.

A Successful candidate requirements

• We’re looking for people who can write clean, effective code. You should already have proficiency in Java and an understanding of how frameworks such as Spring works.
• Deep knowledge of data structures and familiarity with storage systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience required.
• 3-5 years of experience with API development, writing code in Java or C# and writing unit/integration testing.
• Experience writing unit tests using frameworks such as jUnit, Mockito or other equivalents.
• Experience using build tools such as Maven or gradle.
• Experience in writing queries for relational and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud vendors (AWS, GCP or Azure) and their offered services.
• Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals.
• Skill and comfort working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users.
• Demonstrated ability to learn continuously, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s, PhD degree, further education or experience in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical related field a plus.
• Experience writing code that integrates with advanced asynchronous communication mechanisms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ etc.
• Familiarity with writing code that uses advanced cache stores such as Redis or Memcached.
