We are a dynamic and growing company seeking a talented and motivated Translator/Subtitler to join our team.
The translation portion of this job entails localizing TV and film dialogue and/or onscreen text from English/Japanese into the target language (Latin American Spanish) for use in subtitles. The language of the source video will not necessarily be in English, so the successful candidate will be able to use an English script or Japanese script and Japanese (or Chinese, etc.) source video to produce a final translation.
The candidate’s responsibilities will also include reviewing out of house translations and flagging any issues, as well as serving as a resource for out of house translators or Language Service Providers (LSP) who have questions about localizing the content.
The subtitling portion of the job will be tasked with converting translation scripts into MacCaption files. This is done by formatting the text as it will appear for viewers on screen, timing the text to match the spoken pace of the show, and proofing the text for any errors with positioning, timing, or grammar. In addition to foreign language properties, many shows require closed captioning as well. This is a similar process with a few notable changes (such as added audio descriptions). Completed projects are then exported into different formats for DVD, Blu-ray, theatrical, and numerous online vendors with differing specs.
