Job Description

The Penguin Publishing division of Penguin Random House is seeking a Multicultural Marketing Director to develop marketing plans and programs to reach the widest range of consumers for our adult books. In this role, you will be responsible for partnering with internal Marketing departments and Advertising/Promotion departments, will find new audiences to market our books to, and will create awareness for our books inside and outside of traditional book spaces.

Responsibilities in this role include:

  1. Works closely with the Marketing, Ad/Promo and PR departments, bringing deep knowledge of the advertising space and utilizing research and analytics to help develop and/or implement marketing plans with multicultural lens across a varied list of titles, both fiction and non-fiction, as well as key backlist titles and authors.
  2. Develops and provides best practices on strategy and available tools with a goal to reach all readers; brings expertise regarding digital advertising and targeting opportunities to process.
  3. Acts as a sounding board and subject matter expert during marketing campaign development on inclusion related topics; is an available resource to review plans, messaging, and business decisions alongside customer and marketplace impact considerations.
  4. Works closely with imprints to ensure maximum multicultural permeation in all channels including Online (video, audio, and display) and Social.
  5. Identifies potential gaps in targeting, positioning, and/or messaging, and determines success metrics for campaigns as they relate to inclusion goals.
  6. Researches and identifies new target groups within multicultural audiences.
  7. Researches social media influencers, potential partners, etc. for cross-promotional opportunities as appropriate in concert with the larger team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in marketing, with a specific focus on multicultural marketing and advertising
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing analytics and data-driven marketing decision-making
  • Knowledge of consumer insights and use thereof
  • Experience with media planning
  • Fluency in key marketing concepts and tools including email, social media marketing, search, as well as traditional book marketing methods
  • Ability to influence peers, build trust, and create strong cross-functional relationships across an organization to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Understanding of Photoshop, Adobe, and basic HTML skills ideal
