Department:

The RIS business (Retirement Income Solutions), one of the largest U.S. segments in MetLife, offers a wide variety of products including pension risk transfer products, GIC/Funding agreements, stable value products, structured settlements, Institutional Income Annuities and PRB & SBR products.

Role:

Reporting to the head of RIS Strategy, Pricing and R&D, this director position plays a key role to accelerate profitable business growth and optimize shareholder value across Retirement Income Solutions (RIS). The RIS business, one of the largest U.S. segments in MetLife, has a wide variety of products, including pension risk transfer products, longevity reinsurance, GIC/Funding agreements, stable value products, structured settlements, Institutional Income Annuities and PRB & SBR Products.

The successful candidate will lead RIS pricing modeling and ALM frameworks function, with a supporting team. The role will work closely with RIS business pricing teams and corporate functional partners, including actuarial, investments, operations, legal, risk and finance, and will be highly visible within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial modeling of ALM, liability cashflow / reserve projection and various capital framework across various RIS products
  • Lead efforts to improve pricing methodology and ALM frameworks
  • Collaborate with Investment, Risk, Actuarial and other R&D teams for RIS strategic initiatives
  • Perform business pricing oversight and consulting for RIS business pricing team
  • Communicate results to business partners and senior management

Key Relationships:

  • Reports to: VP Strategy, Pricing and R&D
  • Direct reports/team: 3
  • Key Stakeholders: Product heads, investments, finance, risk, legal, and other corporate functions

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, or related discipline
  • FSA, ASA or CFA with 7+ years of insurance industry experience with comprehensive business knowledge
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skill
  • Good knowledge in US GAAP, Statutory and capital framework s
  • Ability to manage and coach / develop talents
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge in Retirement products
  • Strong knowledge in investment and ALM
  • Strong knowledge or ability to quickly learn, MetLife's processes and systems
