Experience Designer - Profit-for-purpose/Agtech Venture

BCG Digital Ventures’ mission is to invent, launch, scale and invest in game-changing businesses in partnership with the world’s most influential corporations. About this opportunity:

We are working to launch and scale a stealth profit-for-purpose / agtech venture with a mission to improve the lives of smallholder farmers in developing markets. Our platform will enable smallholder farmers to:

1. Grow more effectively and sustainably, increasing yield and incomes through AI and satellite-powered personalised farming advice, delivered through intuitive channels such as voice, chat and video;
2. Buy much-needed farming inputs (such as seeds and fertilizers) at discounted prices;
3. Borrow microfinance to fund farm growth and increase financial inclusion; and,
4. Sell their farming produce at the best price, which involves digitising key parts of the agriculture supply chain with IoT and online-to-offline capabilities.

The venture is backed by a global agro-commodity player which has unparalleled presence in rural communities and relationships with millions of smallholder farmers. It is uniquely positioned to drive profit with purpose: disrupting the agriculture industry and generating outsized financial returns, while creating real impact for some of the world’s poorest farmers and their families, and the planet by promoting sustainable farming practices. The company is expected to launch publicly by end-2020.

We're looking for motivated experience designers to join our journey. As one of our first hires, you will be responsible for using your creative design expertise to help shape the product from an early stage and design core features of the platform. This is an opportunity to work in a team with other senior engineers, designers, and product managers who deliver high-quality software. What you will do:

• Lead and participate in concept sessions leveraging ethnographic research and design thinking
• Translate customer insights into concepts, personas, user journeys, storyboards, system maps, user flows, wireframes, visual design comps and prototypes
• Work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering to represent the design team and help facilitate design discussions
• Create and execute on design systems, based on regional/contextual user behaviours, and working to shape the experience of the entire product and feature set
• Work closely with Engineering to ensure a high-quality implementation and user experience
• Work closely with the Product Management team to improve UX processes and design systems
• Work closely with Marketing and Growth to create assets for social media campaigns
• Communicate the product’s vision, based on testing and design principles, to team members, external stakeholders and consumers
• Ability to plan, facilitate and synthesise usability testing towards actionable design deliverables for build
• Understand how to communicate/implement design solutions that solve for user needs and can benefit business objectives

What we are looking for:

• 5+ years of experience designing stellar products, from web/desktop to mobile
• Experience working in a startup or other innovative space
• Experience designing end to end UX using tried and tested processes. From discovery all the way to delivery of polished UI designs
• Solid understanding of design thinking
• Solid experience with wire-framing and prototyping as a means to explore and convey design solutions
• Solid experience using Human Centred Design techniques to understand user behaviour and expectations
• A pro with Figma (preferred), Sketch, Flinto, Invision, realtime board or similar UX/UI applications
