What you’ll be doing...

“BlueJeans by Verizon” is looking for a very dynamic technology leader to lead its Clients development team. The Clients development team has a broad charter and is responsible for building the Desktop, Web, Mobile, Analytics clients that constitute the core of our flagship product.

Our Clients Development team owns key initiatives which have a broad impact on the Quality of Experience (QoE) and usability of all BlueJeans products.

In this role you will be required to collaborate with Media and Platform Engineering teams, DevOps team, Security team and Product and Business partners to own and execute on the Clients roadmap.

You will bring your knowledge and experience of various front-end software development technologies, and your experience in managing a distributed team of very highly qualified engineers. You are results oriented and you thrive in a result driven culture that values initiative and collaboration.

The Clients development team is split between San Jose, USA, Bangalore, India and New Zealand and is composed of talented software engineers. Development is done using various frameworks in Javascript (React, MobX, Node, Webpack etc.), Swift, C#, Kotlin/Java and some C++.

Responsibilities:

  • Use your technical judgment to guide the team, amplify best practices for our Clients chapter, and champion an engineering culture emphasizing high quality delivery and Agile
  • Lead and mentor a team of passionate engineers in San Jose, Bangalore and New Zealand to build a high-quality Unified Communications Collaboration software platform
  • Be a great recruiter to help grow the BlueJeans team and find enthusiastic, innovative engineers to join the team
  • Collaborate closely with architects, program management, product management and design teams in an agile environment engineering
  • Contribute to non-critical path coding and implementation
  • Working closely with other functional groups (especially Product and Design) to define priorities, direction and timelines balancing product vision and user experience with engineering fundamentals like scale, resilience and security
  • Recruiting, mentoring, and leading a team of talented technical leads and engineers
  • Handling day-to-day management tasks such as performance reviews, time off, HR Coordination
  • Represent the organization with major customers, partners, vendors, mediaor in public forums to grow relationships, find mutual opportunities and negotiate contracts

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least four year work experience
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience in SaaS or consumer applications
  • 8+ years of experience leading engineering and development teams or projects.
  • Experience in managing 50+ engineers.
  • Fluent with front-end software technologies e.g. Javascript, HTML, CSS. Mobile application development etc.
  • 10+ years of experience in front-end software development

Even better if you have

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading positive change, empowering people, cultivating product technology visions and innovative solutions, and fostering effective engineering teams
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track in a distributed global engineering ecosystem
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
  • Passion to understand, learn, and evaluate new technologies.
