The Enterprise MarTech Platforms technology group is empowering Vanguard Marketing divisions to reach their audiences in more meaningful and relevant ways, driving incremental business value with personalized, data-driven contextually relevant experiences. In this role, you will lead Vanguard’s MarTech Engineering team, responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of Vanguard’s MarTech platform capabilities and solutions. You will lead a high-performing team of seasoned MarTech Architects, Engineering solution leads, and DevSecOps who are accountable for agile software
development and delivery, based on a relentless focus on client needs and a strong understanding of business drivers.
As a senior member of the MarTech Platforms leadership team, you will collaborate closely with the Head of MarTech Product, Operations, as well as Divisional Marketing / IT resources, Corporate IT and Information Security teams across Vanguard to translate MarTech platform requirements into industry-leading, scalable marketing technology solutions.
IN THIS HIGH-VISIBILITY ROLE, YOU WILL:
• Set the vision and organizational structure of the MarTech Engineering team, working closely with multifunctional MarTech product managers to define objectives and drive effective short & long-term strategies across the MarTech ecosystem
• Recruit, hire, train, grow, and retain a world-class Engineering team; refine and adjust the team structure as necessary to remain aligned with a dynamic business environment
• Architect and implement scalable, personalized, omni-channel marketing experiences across B2B and B2C, based on the varying needs and imperatives of our divisional marketing clients
• Oversee and support agile software development and delivery across approved, funded MarTech initiatives as prioritized and aligned with Marketing Leadership, MarTech Product Owners, and Enterprise MarTech Roadmap
• Document and promote standard methodologies on performance, platform reliability, availability and redundancy
• Partner with DevSecOps and Technical Operations to plan CI/CD, infrastructure transitions, upgrades, technical refresh, and preventative maintenance
• Collaborate with MarTech Product to inform the vision for industry-leading MarTech platforms and chart the course for incremental delivery of the Enterprise MarTech roadmap
• Work with MarTech Product team to assess effort, scope, and priority of incremental MarTech capabilities envisioned by the business (if these are outside of the MarTech Roadmap)
• Work with Operations/Portfolio Optimization team to communicate and track annual HW/SW budget needs
• Holistic understanding of existing and future products across the MarTech Platforms stack and how they connect into the broader marketing technology ecosystem within Vanguard
• Serve as an advisor and advocate for the solutions designed by the MarTech Platforms team
• Champion New Ways of Working by leading agile delivery of MarTech solutions and continuing to improve upon agile software delivery practices
• Evaluate team performance and quality, coach and mentor team members, driving technical excellence and professional growth
• Cultivate a culture of relentless innovation, diversity of thought, teamwork, and excellence within the organization
• Work with internal and external partners to ensure divisional marketing objectives and requirements are effectively incorporated into the solution architecture and design of the MarTech platforms, complying with Vanguard’s data security, privacy, and other industry regulations
• Support overall MarTech Platforms strategy and vision, evaluate and adapt Engineering delivery commitments, and priorities against the MarTech Platforms Vision and Roadmap, based on the value and impact such initiatives drive to Vanguard’s business
Qualifications
Significant experience (10+ years) in Marketing Technology, IT or Software Engineering roles as an individual contributor and team manager; SaaS, ad-tech/mar-tech background preferred
• Minimum 7+ years of application development experience
• Minimum of 5+ years in a Senior Technology leadership role leading distributed teams and enterprise technology transformations
• Deep domain expertise in cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS and knowledge of GCP, Microsoft Azure, CDN (Akamai/CloudFront), and/or other cloud vendor solutions
• 5+ years’ experience and understanding of large-scale cloud infrastructure deployments and global distribution of digital content or similar complex multi-tiered infrastructure
• Strong technology expertise in leading Digital consumer-facing experience transformations leveraging CMS platforms like Adobe experience platforms {including headless, DAM & MAM capabilities}, experimentation platforms, advanced analytics, personalization, and digital marketing technologies
• Experience with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Audience Management, Data Management platforms (CDP, DMP, Customer 360, etc.), and CRM platforms (Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, etc.) preferred
• Ability to strategize, build, and articulate a vision for technology strategy based on an understanding of market drivers, trends, competitive positions and opportunities
• Experience with SDLC methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, etc.
• Experience in software tools and automation of development pipeline activities
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and a tight deadline
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with developers, architects, product owners, business and technical operations personnel
• Ability to influence senior executive stakeholders to take action / facilitate buy-in of recommendations
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients, senior executives, team members, and peers
• Leading by example, driven, excellent execution and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to achieve results while working in a cross-functional environment
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Mathematics (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent (required)
• Experience in the financial services industry (preferred)
